Key Responsibilities

The Medical Equipment Sterilization Technician will perform a comprehensive range of duties to uphold the integrity of sterile environments and equipment. Your core accountabilities will include:

• Decontamination and Sterilization: Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical and medical instruments using advanced sterilization equipment and protocols to eliminate pathogens and prevent cross-contamination.
• Operating Room Preparation: Decontaminate operating areas and ensure all surgical equipment is properly set up, calibrated, and ready for procedures in accordance with established guidelines.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all local, national, and international healthcare regulations, including those set by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, to ensure patient safety and organizational compliance.
• Equipment Assembly and Maintenance: Assemble, inspect, and maintain medical equipment to ensure optimal functionality, conducting routine quality control checks to verify performance and reliability.
• Inventory Management: Perform equipment inventory audits, restock supplies as needed, and maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
• Organization and Logistics: Keep instruments and equipment meticulously organized, sorting mismatched sets, and ensuring timely availability for healthcare providers to support efficient surgical operations.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed and accurate sterilization logs, documenting all procedures, test results, and equipment status to facilitate audits and regulatory reviews.
• Collaboration and Support: Work closely with healthcare teams, including surgeons, nurses, and facility management, to address sterilization needs and resolve operational challenges promptly.

Work Environment

This position operates in a controlled indoor healthcare setting, ensuring a sterile and safe environment for both staff and patients. The role requires adherence to strict protocols and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations while maintaining precision and attention to detail.

Work Schedule

The Medical Equipment Sterilization Technician will follow a structured work schedule consisting of six working days per week, with one designated day off. Daily working hours are set at eight net hours, aligned with the shift schedule approved by the Head of Department to ensure optimal coverage and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following educational and professional requirements:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field, such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or Biochemistry, from an accredited institution.
• Certification: Possession of a valid Professional Accreditation Certificate issued by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, demonstrating compliance with national standards for healthcare professionals.
• Experience: While fresh graduates are encouraged to apply, prior experience in a healthcare or sterilization environment is advantageous.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with office software applications to support documentation and reporting tasks.
• Language Skills: Fluency in both Arabic and English, with the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment.
