Infrastructure Operations Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to join a dynamic team supporting one of our valued clients. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of Windows and Linux server environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructures. Your expertise will be pivotal in deploying, configuring, and maintaining virtual machines, network devices, and security technologies while providing operational support for mission-critical systems such as Cisco ISE and CCTV.

Key Responsibilities

• Server and Virtualization Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, as well as virtualized environments, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Cloud Infrastructure Support: Assist with the administration of cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar technologies, by managing resources, monitoring performance, and ensuring alignment with organizational requirements.
• Network Operations: Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain network devices such as switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and load balancers to support secure and efficient data flow across the organization.
• Security and Compliance: Support the implementation of cybersecurity controls, identity and access management solutions, and other security technologies to safeguard infrastructure and data. Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team to address vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• System Administration: Administer user accounts, permissions, and access-related requests while applying approved patches, upgrades, and system configuration changes to maintain operational integrity.
• Monitoring and Incident Management: Monitor infrastructure health, performance, availability, and capacity using advanced monitoring tools. Investigate incidents, conduct preliminary root-cause analysis, and escalate complex issues to the appropriate teams for resolution.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate system records, asset registers, configurations, and technical documentation. Produce operational reports and communicate relevant security updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Vendor and Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues, facilitate knowledge transfer, and contribute to infrastructure handovers and operational improvement initiatives.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• At least three years of hands-on experience in infrastructure operations, systems administration, or a comparable role, with a proven track record in managing servers and virtualized environments.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and general networking principles, along with practical experience supporting switches, wireless networks, and firewalls.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS, including experience managing cloud resources and services.
• Basic knowledge of load balancing, identity and access management, and cybersecurity controls, with the ability to apply these concepts in real-world scenarios.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools and IT service-management or ticketing systems, enabling efficient incident tracking and resolution.
• Exceptional troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to delivering high-quality technical solutions under pressure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and reports.

Preferred Qualifications

While not mandatory, the following qualifications will enhance your candidacy for this role:

• Relevant certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, AWS, Azure, or equivalent providers, demonstrating your expertise in infrastructure management and cloud technologies.
• Hands-on experience supporting Cisco ISE and CCTV infrastructure, as well as hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• ITIL Foundation certification or practical knowledge of IT service-management processes, including incident, problem, and change management.
