Laboratory Specialist

Position Overview

Balsam Medical Care is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Specialist to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This full-time, on-site position plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care and clinical decision-making. The Laboratory Specialist will perform a wide range of routine and specialized laboratory tests while adhering to stringent regulatory standards and established protocols. This role requires a commitment to precision, safety, and collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Execution and Analysis: Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests, including specimen preparation, processing, and analysis, following standardized procedures to ensure reliable results.
• Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform basic maintenance on laboratory equipment to maintain optimal functionality and compliance with operational standards.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Participate in internal quality assurance activities, including proficiency testing and quality control checks, to uphold the integrity of laboratory processes and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Documentation and Reporting: Accurately document test results, maintain detailed records, and report findings to clinical teams in a timely manner to support diagnostic and treatment decisions.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to interpret test results, address discrepancies, and contribute to patient care plans.
• Laboratory Safety and Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory environment by following infection control protocols, safety procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
• Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory workflows, protocols, and technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following competencies:

• Education and Certification: A relevant diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a closely related field. Professional certification or licensure in Saudi Arabia is highly preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience in standard laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment operation, including calibration and troubleshooting.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to interpret test results, identify discrepancies, and support accurate clinical decision-making.
• Quality Control Knowledge: Familiarity with quality control practices and laboratory medicine principles to ensure reliable, compliant, and high-quality testing outcomes.
• Attention to Detail and Organization: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Communication and Teamwork: Proficiency in following written and verbal instructions, utilizing laboratory information systems, and communicating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Regulatory Compliance: Experience in hospital or clinical laboratory settings and familiarity with regional regulatory standards are advantageous.
