Network Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Technician to join our dynamic IT team. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of network-related tasks, including but not limited to:

• Network Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve issues related to LAN/WAN connectivity, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Utilize diagnostic tools such as Ping and Traceroute to identify and address network anomalies.
• Network Equipment Configuration and Maintenance: Perform basic configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network devices, including switches, routers, and VLANs. Ensure optimal performance and adherence to industry standards.
• Installation and Deployment: Install, replace, and relocate network equipment in data centers and network rooms. Conduct cable management, including fiber and copper cabling, labeling, and proper rack installation to maintain an organized and efficient infrastructure.
• Network Monitoring and Incident Resolution: Proactively monitor network alerts and respond to technical issues within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or vendors as necessary to ensure timely resolution.
• Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including equipment records, network diagrams, and change logs. Adhere to data center safety protocols, access controls, security policies, and change management procedures to uphold operational integrity.
• Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with senior engineers, vendors, and cross-functional IT teams to support network projects, maintenance activities, and equipment decommissioning. Foster a culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: A Diploma in Network Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Networks, or a related field. Relevant certifications or vocational training will be considered an asset.
• Experience: A minimum of 1–2 years of hands-on experience in network operations, with a preference for candidates who have worked in data center environments. Practical exposure to network infrastructure deployment and maintenance is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of TCP/IP protocols, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, and DHCP. Familiarity with network cabling, patching, and rack installation practices is required. Knowledge of network monitoring tools and diagnostic utilities is advantageous.
• Certifications: Possession of a CCNA certification or equivalent is highly preferred and demonstrates a commitment to professional development in the networking field.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities. The ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels is crucial.
• Physical Requirements: Capability to work in data center environments, including participation in planned maintenance activities, equipment relocation, and adherence to safety protocols.
