Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our partner company’s remote team, supporting clients across Saudi Arabia. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Oracle database administration, offering significant ownership over critical database operations, including upgrades, migrations, performance optimization, and high availability solutions. The successful candidate will work across diverse Oracle environments, from legacy systems to modern cloud-based platforms, while contributing to high-impact client projects that demand technical excellence and strategic problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Oracle Database Administration: Provide expert-level support for Oracle databases spanning versions 10g, 11g, 12c, and 19c, ensuring optimal performance, stability, and reliability across all environments.
- Engineered Systems Support: Deliver hands-on administration for Oracle Engineered Systems, including Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) and Exadata, to support high-performance workloads and demanding enterprise requirements.
- Database Upgrades and Migrations: Lead end-to-end database upgrade initiatives, including migration to Oracle 19c, while ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity. Design and execute complex database platform migrations with precision.
- Performance Optimization: Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks through advanced tuning techniques, leveraging deep knowledge of Oracle RDBMS architecture and best practices.
- Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery: Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, ensuring data protection and rapid restoration capabilities in the event of failures.
- High Availability and Resilience: Design and manage scalable, resilient database architectures utilizing Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, partitioning, and compression technologies to meet enterprise-grade availability standards.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Utilize Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control to proactively monitor database environments, identify issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain optimal performance.
- Operating System Support: Provide system-administrator-level expertise across at least two supported platforms, including Linux/OEL, Solaris, AIX, or HP-UX, to ensure seamless database operations.
- Consulting and Technical Leadership: Contribute to client engagements by providing expert guidance on database implementations, upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting, while delivering accurate effort estimates and meeting project deadlines.
- Documentation and Communication: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
- Problem-Solving and Collaboration: Apply analytical thinking and creative solutions to address complex technical challenges, working collaboratively within distributed teams to achieve project success.
- Flexible Support: Provide occasional off-hours support to accommodate critical project milestones or client requirements, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery.
Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of professional Oracle DBA experience, with hands-on expertise across Oracle 10g, 11g, 12c, and 19c environments.
- Engineered Systems: At least 2 years of direct experience working with Oracle Engineered Systems, including Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) and/or Exadata.
- Upgrades and Migrations: Proven track record of successfully upgrading databases to Oracle 19c and executing complex database platform migrations.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of Oracle RDBMS architecture, administration, configuration, and troubleshooting, with advanced performance tuning capabilities.
- RMAN Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of RMAN for backup, recovery, and disaster-recovery processes.
- High Availability Technologies: Hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, partitioning, and compression technologies.
- Operating Systems: System-administrator-level knowledge across at least two supported platforms, such as Linux/OEL, Solaris, AIX, or HP-UX.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work effectively both independently and within collaborative teams.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical work clearly and interact professionally with clients and stakeholders.
