Capital Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Capital Manager to join our Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary subject matter expert on capital returns, including RWA, RoRWA, RoTE, Density, and Velocity calculations, while driving initiatives to optimize capital efficiency across the business. Your expertise will directly influence lending structures, pricing strategies, and portfolio performance, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability for our CIB operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Capital Expertise & Advisory: Act as the go-to authority on capital returns, providing insights into RWA, RoRWA, RoTE, Density, and Velocity trends. Collaborate closely with CIB Relationship Managers to raise awareness of capital consumption and recommend alternative lending structures that enhance capital efficiency.
• Capital Efficiency Initiatives: Lead and support a range of initiatives designed to release RWAs, improve RoRWA, reduce RWA density, and accelerate Capital Velocity. This includes overseeing data management, capital distribution, and reallocation strategies to maximize returns.
• Policy & Tool Ownership: Take full ownership of CIB’s Loan Pricing Policy, ensuring it is commercially viable and provides Relationship Managers with the flexibility to negotiate within defined parameters. Additionally, manage the Omnia Returns Calculator, working with Finance to align its calculations with SAB’s RWA and capital reporting methodologies.
• Pricing Approvals & Advisory: Serve as the Final Approver for loan pricing approvals in the Omnia Returns Calculator on behalf of CCIBO. Provide strategic guidance to senior management and CCIBO on transaction pricing benchmarks, ensuring alignment with market standards and internal policies.
• Portfolio Performance Analysis: Advise CCIBO, General Managers, and Directors on portfolio-level yields, margin trends, and spread leakage across sectors, currencies, and tenors. Identify opportunities to mitigate margin compression and enhance profitability.
• Operational Excellence: Ensure robust operational controls for loan margins, including accurate data input and adherence to internal guidelines. Monitor and address any discrepancies to maintain integrity in financial reporting.
• Client Return Optimization: Analyze CIB client portfolios to identify low-return relationships and collaborate with Coverage teams to develop actionable plans to improve returns from these clients.
• KPI Ownership: Assume direct responsibility for CIB returns as a key performance indicator, driving measurable improvements in capital efficiency and profitability.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess a strong background in capital management, loan pricing, and limits. The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven experience in capital management, loan pricing, and limits, with a deep understanding of financial frameworks.
• Expertise in Weighted Assets (RWA), Basel Accords, Risk-Adjusted Return on Capital (RAROC), and capital optimization strategies.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
