Animal Keeper / Handler

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Animal Keeper / Handler to join our team at Tilad Environment Group, based in Dammam. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for animal welfare, conservation, and hands-on care. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily maintenance, feeding, and health monitoring of animals under our care, ensuring their well-being while adhering to strict safety and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Animal Care and Maintenance: Perform daily tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and providing fresh water to ensure a hygienic and safe environment for all animals. Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to senior staff immediately.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all established protocols for animal handling, including proper use of equipment and personal protective gear. Maintain detailed records of animal health, treatments, and observations in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Habitat Management: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of animal habitats, ensuring they are clean, secure, and enriched to promote natural behaviors. Collaborate with the veterinary team to implement health and wellness programs.
• Public Interaction and Education: Engage with visitors in a professional manner, providing accurate information about the animals and their conservation status. Participate in educational programs and outreach initiatives to raise awareness about wildlife protection.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, biologists, and other keepers to ensure cohesive care and management of the animal collection. Attend regular meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices in animal care.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to any medical or behavioral emergencies, following established emergency protocols to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in Animal Science, Biology, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in animal care, handling, or a related field, with a strong understanding of animal behavior and welfare principles.
• Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, visitors, and stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to work in compliance with local and international animal welfare regulations.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting purposes.

Work Environment

The Animal Keeper / Handler will work in an outdoor and indoor environment, often in varying weather conditions. The role may involve exposure to animals, their waste, and potential hazards, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, may be required to meet operational needs.
