RCM Instrument Engineer | Saudi Arabia
الوصف الوظيفي
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RCM Instrument Engineer to join our dynamic team in Saudi Arabia. This critical role will focus on leading and supporting Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) initiatives for instrumentation, control, and automation systems. The successful candidate will drive improvements in equipment reliability, availability, and lifecycle performance while ensuring compliance with international standards such as SAE JA1011 and JA1012. This position offers a competitive fixed salary based on experience, with no negotiation post-selection, and is ideal for professionals with a strong background in industrial reliability and instrumentation systems.
Key Responsibilities
The RCM Instrument Engineer will be responsible for the following core functions:
- RCM Leadership and Execution: Lead and execute RCM studies for instrumentation and control systems in strict accordance with SAE JA1011 and JA1012 standards. Apply the seven RCM questions to develop and implement appropriate maintenance strategies.
- Reliability Strategy Development: Design and optimize reliability strategies for a wide range of instrumentation and control systems, including field instrumentation, process analyzers, control valves, PLC systems, DCS, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
- Failure Analysis and Root Cause Investigation: Conduct Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMEA/FMECA) to identify potential failure modes and their consequences. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Data Analysis and Optimization: Analyze instrument failure data, alarm trends, condition-monitoring information, and maintenance history. Calculate and interpret Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) to optimize preventive maintenance and calibration frequencies.
- Maintenance Planning and Inspection: Develop and refine instrumentation maintenance plans, calibration routines, and inspection strategies to enhance system reliability and performance.
- Workshop Facilitation and Training: Lead and facilitate RCM/FMECA workshops with multidisciplinary teams. Train and mentor instrumentation technicians and engineers in RCM principles and best practices in reliability engineering.
- Software Utilization: Leverage GE APM Meridium and SAP CMMS for reliability and maintenance activities, ensuring seamless integration and data-driven decision-making.
- Continuous Improvement: Support asset health monitoring, bad-actor analysis, and initiatives aimed at continuous reliability improvement. Collaborate with maintenance, operations, engineering, and other stakeholders to align reliability goals with business objectives.
Preferred Experience
While all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with experience in the following sectors and environments:
- Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, Power, Utilities, or Industrial facilities.

- Experience working in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following stringent requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in instrumentation maintenance, reliability engineering, or a closely related field, with at least 3 years of hands-on RCM experience based on SAE JA1011 and JA1012 standards.
- Technical Expertise: Proven technical knowledge of field instruments, process analyzers, control valves, PLC systems, DCS, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
- Analytical Skills: Strong experience in conducting FMEA/FMECA and RCA/RCFA studies.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with GE APM Meridium and SAP CMMS/SAP PM.
- Certification: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification is mandatory.
Work Arrangements and Compensation
This position is based in Saudi Arabia and offers a competitive fixed salary commensurate with the candidate’s total relevant experience (8 to 11 years). The role operates on a standard schedule of 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, with support for work visa arrangements. Please note that salary negotiations are not available after selection.
