Structure Engineer – SME

About the Role

We are seeking a distinguished Structural Engineer – Subject Matter Expert (SME) with a minimum of 15 years of specialized experience in bridge engineering, particularly in the design, analysis, and delivery of steel bridge structures for large-scale transportation and urban infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will provide expert technical leadership and support to clients in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, contributing to all phases of bridge development—from conceptual design and engineering to construction supervision, stakeholder coordination, and final project delivery. Candidates with hands-on experience on major infrastructure projects within Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, or the broader GCC region will be given priority consideration.

Key Responsibilities

As a Structural Engineer – SME, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our clients’ bridge infrastructure initiatives by leveraging your deep technical expertise and leadership capabilities. Your responsibilities will encompass the following critical areas:

Bridge Design & Engineering

• Lead the design, analysis, and delivery of steel bridge structures, including steel plate girder bridges, steel box girder bridges, composite steel-concrete bridges, pedestrian steel bridges, flyovers, grade-separated interchanges, and elevated road structures.
• Provide technical oversight for large-scale bridge and infrastructure projects in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, or similar GCC environments, ensuring alignment with project objectives, regulatory standards, and best engineering practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate bridge designs with highways, utilities, traffic management systems, drainage solutions, geotechnical considerations, and construction methodologies.

Construction Supervision & Site Leadership

• Supervise and direct bridge construction activities on major infrastructure projects, ensuring strict adherence to approved designs, project specifications, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols.
• Review and approve critical documents such as shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and temporary works designs to maintain construction integrity and compliance.
• Conduct comprehensive site inspections to verify construction progress, resolve engineering and construction challenges, and ensure timely technical delivery throughout all project stages.
• Provide expert guidance on bridge erection techniques, launching methodologies, rehabilitation strategies, widening and strengthening initiatives, and replacement works to enhance structural performance and longevity.
• Facilitate seamless coordination with contractors, supervision consultants, and construction teams to mitigate risks and optimize project outcomes.

Urban Infrastructure Expertise

• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of bridge design requirements for congested urban corridors, grade separations, and major road network improvements, with a focus on sustainable and resilient infrastructure solutions.
• Lead bridge rehabilitation, strengthening, widening, and replacement projects, ensuring minimal disruption to existing traffic and utilities while maximizing structural integrity.
• Engage with stakeholders across clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and multidisciplinary teams to foster collaboration, resolve conflicts, and align project objectives with stakeholder expectations.

Your Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and professional attributes:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (a Master’s degree is highly advantageous).
• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in bridge engineering, with a strong focus on steel bridge design and construction supervision.
• Proven track record of delivering bridge projects within Saudi Arabia or the GCC region, with a deep understanding of local regulatory frameworks and international design standards.
• Proficiency in advanced bridge analysis and design software, including MIDAS Civil, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, RM Bridge, or SOFiSTiK.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical leadership capabilities, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and influence key decision-makers.
• Professional Engineering Chartership or equivalent accreditation is a desirable asset.
