Planning Engineer – Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Planning Engineer to join our team in Riyadh, where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of large-scale infrastructure projects. In this strategic position, you will develop, refine, and oversee comprehensive project schedules, providing critical insights that drive efficiency, mitigate risks, and align projects with strategic objectives. Your work will directly contribute to the successful delivery of transformative infrastructure initiatives in one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

As a Planning Engineer at AECOM, your responsibilities will be both challenging and rewarding. You will lead the development and integration of master schedules across all project phases—from engineering and procurement to construction, testing, commissioning, and handover. Your analytical expertise will be instrumental in reviewing and validating contractor schedules, ensuring they meet contractual milestones and project requirements while maintaining alignment with the integrated master plan.

Your role will involve proactive risk management, as you monitor critical and near-critical activities to identify potential delays, resource constraints, and schedule deviations. By analyzing planned versus actual progress through tools like S-curves, resource histograms, and milestone trackers, you will provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and optimize project performance. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve scheduling conflicts, streamline resource allocation, and ensure timely project delivery.

• Develop, maintain, and integrate master schedules across all project phases, ensuring alignment with engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover timelines.
• Review and validate contractor work breakdown structures and multi-level schedules (Level 1 through Level 4) for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements.
• Establish and implement robust progress measurement methodologies, including schedule of values and contractual milestones, to track project performance effectively.
• Monitor critical and near-critical activities, identify emerging schedule risks, and provide early warnings of potential delays or resource constraints to stakeholders.
• Analyze and prepare detailed progress reports, including planned vs. actual S-curves, resource histograms, look-ahead schedules, and milestone trackers for management review.
• Verify reported physical progress through site records, documentation reviews, and field coordination to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Conduct in-depth analyses of schedule slippage, delays, and performance trends, recommending corrective, recovery, and acceleration strategies to keep projects on track.
• Support the evaluation of extension-of-time claims by developing comprehensive delay-event chronologies and schedule-impact analyses.
• Oversee long-lead equipment procurement, manufacturing, dispatch, site receipt, and installation to ensure timely project delivery and minimize delays.
• Integrate multiple project section schedules with interface requirements, addressing technical, operational, and energization dependencies.
• Maintain and update schedule-related assumptions, constraints, risk registers, and delay logs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure proactive risk management.
• Prepare management dashboards, executive summaries, and detailed schedule narratives for periodic progress reports and stakeholder communications.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and optimize resource allocation, ensuring efficient project execution.
• Support invoice certification and payment processing by verifying the achievement of schedule-linked milestones and contractual requirements.
