Key Responsibilities
You will lead the following critical functions to ensure Lummus’s continued growth and market leadership:
- Strategic Business Development: Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities in the Ethylene and petrochemical sectors, aligning with global market trends and technological advancements. Develop and execute sales strategies that maximize revenue potential while mitigating risks.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary commercial liaison between Lummus and key stakeholders, fostering trust and long-term partnerships. Maintain consistent engagement with clients, ensuring their needs are met through tailored solutions and exceptional service.
- Contract and Agreement Negotiation: Lead negotiations for licensing agreements, engineering contracts, and commercial partnerships, ensuring terms are favorable, legally sound, and aligned with Lummus’s strategic objectives. Collaborate with legal and financial teams to finalize and approve agreements.
- Project Oversight and Execution: Ensure awarded projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with contractual obligations. Monitor project milestones, licensee payments, and performance metrics to drive operational excellence.
- Market Intelligence and Forecasting: Conduct in-depth market research, competitive analysis, and sales forecasting to inform business decisions. Provide actionable insights to technology managers regarding market trends, customer requirements, and emerging opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams—including sales, engineering, legal, and finance—to align strategies, secure approvals, and execute proposals efficiently. Collaborate with regional sales representatives and business groups to expand market reach.
- Strategic Growth Initiatives: Assist in developing and implementing growth strategies that enhance Lummus’s competitive edge. Drive innovative marketing campaigns and sales approaches to position our technologies as industry leaders.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk analyses for proposals and present findings to management. Ensure compliance with contractual terms and coordinate reviews with legal and financial stakeholders.
- Client Engagement and Presentation: Prepare and deliver compelling commercial offers and client presentations, showcasing Lummus’s technological expertise and value proposition. Accompany prospects on plant visits to strengthen relationships and demonstrate our solutions in action.
- Data Management: Maintain and update the sales database to ensure accuracy, enabling data-driven decision-making and performance tracking.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you must bring a blend of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and global business experience. We are seeking a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or a related field is required. An MBA or advanced degree is highly advantageous.
- Experience: Ten years or more of experience in process design, technology marketing, and licensing sales in an international environment. Proven track record in business development, contract negotiation, and commercial strategy within the petrochemical or industrial sectors.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of at least one key technology within Lummus’s portfolio, with the ability to translate technical complexities into commercial opportunities.
- Commercial and Negotiation Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze market opportunities, evaluate profitability, and negotiate favorable terms. Strong grasp of contractual obligations, pricing strategies, and risk management.
- Communication and Leadership: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to engage with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams. Ability to earn respect, inspire collaboration, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
