  • Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination: Initiate and manage RFQs for materials and subcontractors, meticulously review supplier quotations, and maintain an updated database for cost benchmarking and future reference.

Utilize industry standards and precise calculations, including painting specifications, to ensure accuracy.
  • Proposal Review and Submission: Present proposals to the Estimation Manager for review, incorporating feedback to refine and optimize cost structures. Submit finalized proposals and maintain transparent documentation of bid statuses through logbooks and ERP systems.
  • Post-Bid Support: Address all post-bid queries from clients with professionalism and precision, ensuring ongoing clarity and trust. Upon contract award, facilitate a seamless handover of bid packages, proposals, clarifications, and correspondence to the project team for execution.

Core Competencies

To excel in this role, you will demonstrate expertise in:

  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Proven ability to develop accurate cost estimates and manage budgets with a focus on efficiency and profitability.
  • Quantity Takeoff: Skilled in extracting precise quantities from technical drawings to support cost calculations and resource planning.
  • Tendering and Bid Preparation: Experience in preparing competitive bids that balance cost, quality, and project timelines.
  • Cost Control and Analysis: Strong analytical skills to monitor costs, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Project Planning and Scheduling: Ability to align cost estimates with project timelines and resource allocation to ensure on-time delivery.

Professional Skills

Your success in this role will be underpinned by:

  • Exceptional proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Deep knowledge of industry standards and regulations relevant to structural steel projects.
  • Advanced skills in preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and Material Takeoff Lists (MTO) from drawings.
  • Specialized expertise in painting calculations, including various paint specifications and application methods.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to engage effectively with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an Estimation Engineer, with a strong track record in structural steel projects.
  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field), with a focus on engineering principles and cost management.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects while honing your expertise in cost engineering and procurement.
