In this strategic position, you will leverage your deep expertise in IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE/IIB) or IBM webMethods to architect and deploy high-performance integration solutions, while harnessing the power of Confluent Kafka to transform traditional synchronous workflows into resilient, real-time event-driven ecosystems. Key Responsibilities

As an IBM Confluence Kafka Engineer, your primary focus will be on:

• Designing and Implementing Enterprise Integration Flows: Develop, deploy, and maintain integration pipelines using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ESQL, Java, REST/SOAP APIs) or IBM webMethods (IS Flow Services, Java Services, and webMethods.io), ensuring seamless data transformation and orchestration. Map complex data formats—including JSON, XML, COBOL Copybooks, and flat files—to enterprise canonical models, enabling interoperability across legacy and modern systems.
• Building Scalable Event-Driven Architectures: Architect and implement high-performance streaming pipelines using Confluent Kafka and Apache Kafka, focusing on topic partitioning, producer/consumer tuning, and consumer group management. Leverage Kafka Streams and ksqlDB to process, transform, and analyze real-time data streams efficiently.
• Modernizing Legacy Systems: Lead the refactoring of outdated synchronous patterns (SOAP, RPC, file batch processing, IBM MQ) into asynchronous, event-driven workflows. Integrate IBM middleware solutions with Kafka to create scalable, fault-tolerant architectures that enhance system responsiveness and resilience.
• Ensuring Data Governance and Security: Implement Confluent Schema Registry (Avro/Protobuf) to enforce enterprise data governance standards, ensuring backward and forward compatibility across systems. Secure Kafka environments using advanced protocols like mTLS, SASL/SCRAM, OAuth2, and RBAC/ACLs to protect sensitive data in hybrid cloud deployments.
• g>Automating Deployments and CI/CD Pipelines: Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate integration deployments using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and ArgoCD. Utilize infrastructure-as-code solutions like Terraform and Ansible to streamline environment provisioning and scaling.
• Driving Cloud-Native Innovation: Deploy and optimize integration solutions on modern platforms like Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, and IBM Cloud Pak for Integration (CP4I), ensuring high availability, performance, and cost-efficiency in cloud environments.
