Key Responsibilities

As a Data Center Technician, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance: Deploy, configure, and maintain server and network hardware, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Execute hardware deployments and decommissions with meticulous attention to detail.
• Structured Cabling and Infrastructure: Perform structured cabling for both copper and fiber optic networks, adhering to industry standards and best practices. Ensure all connections are secure, efficient, and future-proof.
• Environmental Monitoring and Control: Oversee and maintain critical environmental systems, including power distribution, cooling, and security protocols, to guarantee a stable operating environment for all data center assets.
• Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous service availability. Utilize advanced troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and rectify complex problems efficiently.
• Documentation and Asset Management: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all technical procedures, configurations, and asset inventories. Ensure accurate tracking and reporting to support operational transparency and compliance.
• Collaboration and Capacity Planning: Work closely with engineering and operations teams to align infrastructure upgrades with business needs. Participate in capacity planning initiatives to optimize resource allocation and scalability.
• On-Call Support: Provide on-call support as needed, including shift differentials for nights and weekends, to ensure round-the-clock availability and responsiveness to critical incidents.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Minimum 3+ Years of Experience: Proven experience in data center operations, with a strong foundation in server and network infrastructure management.
• Expertise in Cabling: Advanced skills in structured cabling, including Cat6/6a, OM3/OM4, and OS2 fiber optic standards, ensuring high-speed and reliable connectivity.
• Rack and Stack Operations: Hands-on experience with rack-mounted hardware, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
• Power and Cooling Systems: In-depth knowledge of power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and cooling systems to maintain optimal operational conditions.
• Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: A strong aptitude for diagnosing and resolving technical issues, coupled with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
• Documentation and Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clear, concise, and accurate documentation of technical processes.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 50+ lbs, and the stamina to work in demanding, high-pressure environments.

While not mandatory, the following certifications and experiences will be highly regarded:

• Data Center Certifications: Certifications such as CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional), CDCS (Certified Data Center Specialist), or CDCE (Certified Data Center Engineer).
• Vendor Certifications: Certifications from leading vendors like Dell, HPE, or Cisco, demonstrating expertise in specific hardware and software platforms.
• Network Certifications: Certifications such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or JNCIA (Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate) to enhance your network management capabilities.
• DCIM Platforms: Familiarity with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms to optimize resource utilization and operational efficiency.
