Key Responsibilities:

In this dynamic role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Ensuring Medication Safety: Thoroughly review and validate prescriptions to eliminate errors, ensuring each medication is appropriate, safe, and tailored to the individual patient’s needs. Verify dosages, forms (e.g., tablets, injections, ointments, inhalers), and administration protocols to uphold the highest standards of care.
• Clinical Leadership and Collaboration: Actively participate in patient rounds, taking detailed drug histories and contributing to evidence-based treatment decisions. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize therapeutic outcomes and patient education.
• Educational Advocacy: Develop and disseminate educational resources for pharmacists, medical staff, and patients to promote informed decision-making and adherence to treatment plans. Mentor junior pharmacists and team members to foster professional growth and consistency in practice.
• Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce stringent guidelines for medication storage, handling, and distribution to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Conduct monthly audits and inspections to verify medication accuracy, security, and proper labeling, particularly for high-alert medications.
• Sterile Preparation and Safety Protocols: Prepare and quality-check sterile medications, such as intravenous solutions, with meticulous attention to dosage accuracy, mixing techniques, and workspace hygiene. Adhere to strict safety protocols and double-check preparations with colleagues to mitigate risks.
• Performance Improvement and Quality Metrics: Lead unit-based performance improvement activities to drive clinical excellence and achieve key quality outcome indicators. Identify opportunities for enhancement in patient care processes and advocate for systemic improvements that align with best practices.
• Patient Advocacy and Safety Culture: Champion a culture of safety by proactively identifying risk areas and collaborating with nurse supervisors to mitigate potential hazards. Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their rights and well-being are prioritized while adhering to policies for preventing healthcare-associated infections.
• Research and Professional Development: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in pharmaceutical research and development to integrate innovative practices into clinical care. Contribute to cost-effective medication management strategies while maintaining transparency in drug expenditure reporting.
• Team Leadership and Supervision: Supervise and guide less experienced staff, providing guidance on best practices and ensuring adherence to organizational protocols. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages interdisciplinary teamwork and shared accountability for patient outcomes.
• Adaptability and Initiative: Perform additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to addressing evolving healthcare needs.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution, with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacology, and patient care.
• Experience: At least one year of experience in a pharmacist role, preferably within a dialysis or hospital setting, where you have honed your skills in medication management, clinical decision-making, and team collaboration.
• Licensure and Certification: Current Registered Pharmacist Licensure from your country of origin, in addition to Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Licensure. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from either the Saudi or American Heart Association is mandatory.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in pharmaceutical software, electronic health records (EHR), and medication management systems. Familiarity with sterile compounding techniques and adherence to USP 797 or equivalent standards is highly advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to navigate complex clinical scenarios. A commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and continuous learning is essential.
• Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to mentor peers, lead quality initiatives, and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams to drive positive change in patient care delivery.
