Join our dynamic team as a **Building Automation Maintenance Engineer** and play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless operation, security, and efficiency of our advanced automation systems. This position demands a highly skilled professional with expertise in **Niagara 4-based Building Automation Systems (IKAS)** and **Integrated Fire Alarm Automation Systems (IFAS)**. Key Responsibilities
In this strategic position, your duties will include:
- System Monitoring & Reporting: Proactively monitor IKAS and IFAS functionality, generating daily system health reports to identify trends, inefficiencies, and potential risks.
- Fault Diagnosis & Resolution: Investigate system alarms and faults with precision, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective measures to restore functionality and prevent recurrence.
- User & Security Administration: Manage Niagara 4 user accounts, enforce access controls, and log system activities to detect and report security violations or unauthorized access attempts.
- Software & Backup Management: Oversee software backups, perform system restorations, and ensure data integrity while coordinating with IT teams to resolve network, server, and virtual machine challenges.
- Technical Support & Optimization: Provide after-hours technical support, optimize system performance, and fine-tune configurations to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
- Database & Reporting Development: Design and configure SQL database scripts to support reporting requirements and develop performance dashboards for operational insights.
- Equipment Maintenance & Compliance: Maintain automation-related IT hardware, including servers, workstations, and JACE controllers, while ensuring vendor/contractor adherence to approved specifications.
- System Expansion & Collaboration: Support new automation projects, coordinate with software developers and vendors, and collaborate with departments to deploy smart automation solutions.
- Security & Compliance: Investigate security alerts, conduct system audits, and ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
- Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Manage Tridium SMA agreements, including software patches, bug fixes, and version upgrades, to keep systems up-to-date and secure.
This role requires a blend of technical proficiency, analytical thinking, and a commitment to driving operational efficiency. You will work closely with IT, operations, and engineering teams to deliver cutting-edge automation solutions that enhance building performance and sustainability.
Required Competencies
To excel in this position, you must possess:
- Deep Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of **Niagara 4**, including Java and HTML5 implementation, with hands-on experience in system administration, troubleshooting, and configuration.
- Building Automation Systems (BAS) Proficiency: Strong understanding of energy conservation, building energy optimization, and integrated building management systems (IBMS).
- Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Ability to diagnose complex issues, implement solutions, and continuously improve system performance.
- Fire & Power Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with fire alarm systems, lighting control, and power monitoring to ensure comprehensive automation coverage.
- Collaborative Mindset: Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English, with the ability to collaborate across departments and vendors.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in **Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering**, or an equivalent discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of **7 years** in automation/building systems, with **3+ years** of hands-on experience specifically with Niagara 4-based systems.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven expertise in BAS/IBMS, fire alarm systems, lighting control, and power monitoring, with a focus on system optimization and security.
