As a **Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHS)**, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety excellence within our dynamic delivery operations. In this critical role, you will leverage your expertise in workplace health, safety, and ergonomics to lead initiatives that enhance operational efficiency while maintaining the highest safety benchmarks. Your ability to analyze safety metrics, identify trends, and implement corrective actions will be instrumental in mitigating risks and preventing incidents. By fostering open communication and mentorship, you will empower Safety Associates and Operations Leaders to uphold Amazon’s commitment to safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Compliance and Policy Oversight: Ensure strict adherence to Amazon’s Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards and all applicable local and regional regulations. Conduct regular audits to identify non-compliance issues and develop actionable plans to address deficiencies.
• Safety Data Analysis and Trend Identification: Analyze weekly and monthly incident data to uncover patterns and prioritize resource allocation where safety risks are highest. Present actionable insights to drive targeted improvements in safety protocols.
• Incident Investigation and Corrective Action: Lead thorough investigations into workplace incidents, ensuring timely closure of corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
• Site Safety Audits and Process Improvement: Perform comprehensive safety audits of equipment, processes, and workplace organization to identify hazards. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure risks and enhance ergonomic practices.
• Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor Operations Leaders and Safety Associates on WHS policies, best practices, and compliance requirements. Lead by example during peak operations to reinforce safety standards.
• Collaborative Problem-Solving: Engage with Safety teams, Associates, and leaders to gather input on safety program improvements. Maintain transparent communication on progress and resolutions to foster a culture of continuous enhancement.
• Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and consistent record-keeping in alignment with global WHS standards and local regulations. Maintain up-to-date audit trails and reporting mechanisms.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you must possess:

• Fluency in English: Strong verbal, written, and analytical communication skills to convey safety information clearly and effectively.
• Expertise in WHS, Ergonomics, and Environmental Safety: A deep understanding of workplace health, safety, and ergonomic principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Regulatory Compliance Knowledge: Thorough familiarity with local, regional, and global WHS regulations, ensuring alignment with Amazon’s policies.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: The capacity to interpret safety data, identify trends, and develop strategic solutions to mitigate risks.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Experience in training, coaching, and guiding teams to uphold safety standards and drive cultural change.
• Preferred: NEBOSH (National General Certificate) or equivalent certification in workplace health and safety.
