As the Cloud Compute SME Lead, you will oversee end-to-end infrastructure management, from incident resolution and service fulfillment to the optimization of hybrid cloud environments. Your leadership will be instrumental in enhancing operational efficiency, reducing downtime, and aligning technology initiatives with business objectives. This role demands a blend of technical acumen, strategic foresight, and exceptional leadership to navigate complex IT landscapes and guide teams toward sustainable success.

Key Responsibilities

In this influential position, your responsibilities will include:

• Leadership in Multi-Data Center Operations: Direct a skilled team responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing infrastructure components across geographically dispersed data centers, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
• Incident and Problem Management: Oversee incident resolution processes, conduct root cause analysis, and implement proactive measures to minimize disruptions, adhering to strict SLAs and operational KPIs.
• Service Fulfillment and Provisioning: Ensure timely and accurate provisioning of infrastructure resources, including operating systems (Windows, Linux, AIX), databases (Oracle, MSSQL), storage (SAN/NAS), virtualization (VMware, Hyperconverged Infrastructure), networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, load balancers), and security hardening.
• Infrastructure Project Oversight: Provide expert guidance and review for infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with organizational standards, compliance requirements, and operational readiness.
• Cloud Migration Strategy and Execution: Serve as the primary technical advisor for hybrid cloud initiatives, assessing workloads, planning migrations, and integrating on-premises environments with leading public cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), as well as containerized environments built on Red Hat OpenShift.
• Automation and Standardization: Drive the adoption of automation tools (e.g., Ansible, scripting) to streamline operational tasks, reduce manual effort, and enhance consistency across infrastructure layers.
• Disaster Recovery Leadership: Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution to safeguard critical infrastructure and ensure business continuity.
• Team Development and Performance: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by mentoring team members, providing targeted training, and setting clear performance expectations to elevate individual and collective expertise.

Required Skills and Expertise

To excel in this role, you must possess:

• Proven Leadership and Technical Authority: A strong track record of leading IT infrastructure teams with a focus on operational excellence, problem-solving, and process optimization.
• Deep Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure domains, including operating systems (Windows Server, Linux, AIX), storage systems, databases (Oracle, MSSQL), virtualization (VMware, Hyperconverged Infrastructure), networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, load balancers), and security best practices.
• Cloud and Hybrid Environment Expertise: Extensive knowledge of public cloud platforms (GCP, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) and containerized/hybrid environments (Red Hat OpenShift), with a proven ability to guide on-premises workload migrations and hybrid integrations.
• Backup and Security Acumen: Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions and foundational security practices to ensure data integrity and compliance.
• Monitoring and Automation Skills: Experience with monitoring tools and scripting languages to enhance operational visibility and efficiency.
• Exceptional Communication and Collaboration: Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly, collaborate across teams, and drive alignment between IT initiatives and business goals.

Qualifications and Certifications

Candidates should hold:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of IT infrastructure experience, with at least 3+ years in a managerial role, demonstrating a commitment to leadership and technical growth.
• Preferred Certifications: Industry-recognized credentials such as VMware VCP-DCV, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administration, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), ITIL v4 Foundation, CCNP, CISSP, Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Architect Associate will be highly valued.
