Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal leadership position, you will:

• Lead and Mentor Technical Teams: Oversee a high-performing group of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability. Provide visionary guidance to ensure alignment with project objectives and industry best practices.
• Drive Technical Strategy and Problem-Solving: Take ownership of complex, multi-disciplinary engineering challenges, including railway systems such as Signalling, Telecom, SCADA, AFC, and PSD. Develop novel concepts, methodologies, and integrated architectures to address unique or controversial technical issues.
• Ensure Compliance and Assurance: Champion adherence to critical standards such as EN50126 (System Safety), EN50128 (Software Integrity), and EN50129 (Railway Applications), ensuring projects meet the highest levels of reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety (RAMS).
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a bridge between technical teams, internal departments, and external partners, fostering seamless communication and collaboration to deliver cohesive solutions.
• Innovate and Optimize: Explore emerging technologies and methodologies to enhance system performance, efficiency, and sustainability. Drive continuous improvement in processes, tools, and deliverables.
• Independent Technical Authority: Exercise autonomy in decision-making for technical matters, backed by extensive experience and a proven track record of delivering high-impact results.

This role operates with minimal supervision, focusing on broad objectives while maintaining accountability for project outcomes. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of rail infrastructure, ensuring our solutions are not only technically sound but also aligned with global standards and client expectations.

Qualifications and Expertise

To excel in this role, you must possess:

• Advanced Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent professional qualification) with a strong foundation in systems engineering principles.
• Proven Rail Industry Leadership: Minimum 18 years of progressive experience in systems engineering, with a deep focus on railway systems. Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, high-complexity projects within the rail sector.
• Technical Mastery: Extensive expertise in railway systems architecture, including Signalling, Telecom, SCADA, AFC (Automatic Fare Collection), and PSD (Power Supply and Distribution). Proven ability to design, integrate, and optimize complex rail infrastructure solutions.
• Methodologies and Standards: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Requirements Management, Interface Management, RAMS, and Systems Assurance methodologies. Substantial involvement in major rail infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with EN50126, EN50128, and EN50129 standards.
• Strategic and Operational Acumen: Ability to define project scope, explore innovative approaches, and mitigate risks while maintaining cost-efficiency and timelines.
• Leadership and Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead diverse teams, engage stakeholders, and drive cross-functional alignment.
