In this pivotal role, you will leverage your deep technical expertise to lead the design, optimization, and delivery of cutting-edge high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substations, ensuring seamless integration with transmission, distribution, and renewable energy systems. Your strategic vision and hands-on leadership will be instrumental in advancing SJ’s mission to build resilient, future-ready energy infrastructure that powers the next generation of urban development.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior High Voltage Engineer at Surbana Jurong, your responsibilities will include:

• Technical Leadership in Substation Design: Lead the conceptualization, design, and delivery of advanced AIS (Air Insulated Switchgear) and GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) substations, ensuring compliance with international standards and project-specific requirements.
• Technical Documentation and Reviews: Develop and meticulously review substation layouts, single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and comprehensive technical specifications to guarantee precision and reliability.
• Collaborative Project Execution: Act as a bridge between multidisciplinary teams, utilities, contractors, and stakeholders, fostering seamless coordination and alignment across all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Protection and Equipment Studies: Conduct in-depth protection studies, equipment selection, and rigorous design reviews to mitigate risks and optimize system performance.
• End-to-End Project Oversight: Provide technical guidance and oversight during procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Empower junior engineers and designers through mentorship, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you must possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline, complemented by a minimum of 8 to 12 years of specialized experience in high-voltage power engineering.
• Proven expertise in the design and implementation of AIS and GIS substations, with a strong focus on protection systems and grid integration.
• Deep familiarity with IEC, IEEE, utility standards, and grid code requirements, ensuring alignment with global best practices.
• Extensive experience in transmission, distribution, and renewable energy projects, including major infrastructure developments.
• Exceptional technical leadership skills, coupled with outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities to drive project success.
• A preference for candidates with prior experience in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia, given the regional context of the projects.
