In this pivotal role, you will assume responsibility for leading and optimizing enterprise-grade Oracle and SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security while fostering a culture of technical expertise and continuous improvement. As the senior technical authority, you will mentor database administrators, establish industry-leading best practices, and serve as the escalation point for critical database incidents, ensuring seamless operations and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the future of our database infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:

• Strategic Database Leadership: Oversee and guide the administration of complex Oracle and SQL Server environments, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and compliance with industry standards.
• Technical Mentorship: Provide expert guidance and mentorship to database administrators, fostering skill development and operational excellence.
• Standardization and Best Practices: Define and enforce database administration standards, configurations, and best practices to enhance reliability, security, and efficiency.
• Incident Escalation and Resolution: Act as the primary technical escalation point for high-priority database incidents, leading root cause analysis (RCA) and coordinating cross-functional teams to resolve critical issues swiftly.
• Advanced Oracle Administration: Manage and optimize Oracle Database environments across versions 11g, 12c, 19c, and 21c, with a focus on Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and replication. Lead installation, upgrades, patching, migrations, and troubleshooting to ensure peak performance and availability.
• Enterprise SQL Server Management: Administer and enhance Microsoft SQL Server environments, specializing in Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and replication. Drive upgrades, migrations, and troubleshooting to maintain high availability, performance, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Performance Optimization: Lead database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization initiatives, including advanced query optimization and capacity planning to support scalable infrastructure growth.
• Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Preparedness: Implement and validate robust backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN and SQL Server tools. Conduct regular disaster recovery testing and exercises to ensure business continuity.
• Security and Cloud Integration: Implement comprehensive database security measures, including access controls, encryption, and auditing. Support databases hosted in leading cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
• Automation and Efficiency: Develop and deploy automation scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and scripting to streamline operational workflows and improve efficiency.
• Change and Documentation Management: Oversee database upgrades, migrations, and patching activities while ensuring adherence to change management procedures. Maintain up-to-date documentation for architecture, configurations, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation in database administration processes, ensuring alignment with evolving technological advancements and business needs.
