In this strategic position, you will lead the technical review of traffic engineering designs, temporary traffic management plans, and road diversion proposals, ensuring compliance with project requirements, international standards, and regulatory frameworks. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining safe, efficient access for all stakeholders—residents, businesses, public transport users, emergency services, and construction personnel—while minimizing operational disruptions during critical phases of development.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will demand a blend of analytical rigor, collaborative leadership, and technical authority. You will:

• Lead Technical Reviews: Assess and provide actionable recommendations on traffic engineering studies, impact assessments, temporary traffic management plans, and detour designs submitted by consultants and contractors, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory standards.
• Evaluate Traffic Solutions: Critically analyze diversion alignments, junction layouts, lane configurations, traffic capacity, construction staging, signage, road markings, barriers, lighting, and provisions for pedestrians and cyclists to optimize safety and efficiency.
• Ensure Compliance and Safety: Verify that proposed traffic arrangements uphold safe access protocols for all stakeholders, including residents, businesses, public transport systems, emergency services, and construction activities.
• Coordinate Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Facilitate seamless integration between highway, utilities, structural, construction, and health and safety teams to resolve design interfaces and constructability challenges.
• Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a bridge between the client, road authorities, traffic police, consultants, and contractors to streamline permit approvals, implementation planning, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage Review Processes: Issue clear, consolidated review comments, track responses, and verify closure before recommending acceptance within the PMC’s delegated authority.
• Conduct Road Safety Audits: Participate in audits to ensure findings are addressed in revised designs and traffic management proposals, fostering continuous improvement.
• Perform Site Inspections: Conduct pre- and post-implementation site inspections to validate compliance with reviewed plans and identify corrective actions for enhanced safety and efficiency.
• Assess Contractor Proposals: Review contractor submissions for changes to approved traffic arrangements, evaluating their safety, operational, and programmatic implications.
• Monitor Traffic Performance: Oversee traffic performance during construction, identifying congestion or safety concerns and recommending data-driven improvements.
• Prepare Technical Documentation: Compile comprehensive technical reports, review registers, progress updates, and strategic recommendations for PMC management and clients.
