Finance Associate – MENA Region
Join our dynamic finance team as a **Finance Associate – MENA Region**, where you will play a pivotal role in bridging the critical functions of billing and collections across the Middle East and North Africa. This hybrid position demands a meticulous, client-focused professional to ensure seamless financial operations, regulatory compliance, and efficient cash flow management for MSCI’s MENA clientele. Reporting directly to the **Global Head of Billing** and collaborating closely with the **EMEA Collections Manager**, you will be the strategic liaison between finance, sales, and regional clients, driving accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
In this dynamic role, you will oversee the end-to-end billing and collections lifecycle for MENA clients, ensuring invoices are not only accurate but also fully compliant with regional tax and regulatory standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in mitigating payment delays, resolving disputes, and fostering strong client relationships—all while optimizing internal processes for efficiency and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Your work will span multiple high-impact areas, ensuring financial integrity and operational fluidity:
- Invoice Compliance & Review: Act as the gatekeeper for MENA invoices, ensuring full adherence to country-specific regulations—including KSA ZATCA Phase 2, UAE FTA, Egypt ETA, and Qatar QR standards. Validate invoices against purchase orders, contracts, and regulatory requirements, flagging discrepancies for correction before dispatch. Your attention to detail will ensure compliance with VAT, tax IDs, QR codes, and language/currency specifications.
- Collections & Dispute Resolution: Proactively manage accounts receivable by contacting clients with outstanding invoices, monitoring aging reports, and prioritizing collection efforts. Escalate delinquent accounts to management or legal teams as needed while maintaining meticulous records of all communications and updates in MSCI’s ERP systems. Assist in resolving billing disputes and discrepancies, ensuring timely payments while building trust with clients.
- Client & Sales Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact between Billing/Collections and MSCI Sales for MENA accounts, communicating billing holds, disputes, and escalations to Account Managers. Collaborate with Sales to onboard new clients with compliant billing profiles, preferred payment methods, and efficient invoice delivery channels, reducing rejection rates and accelerating cash flow.
- Regional Compliance & Tax Management: Stay ahead of evolving MENA e-invoicing, VAT, and digital tax regulations, ensuring invoices reflect accurate tax statuses (VAT, withholding, or exemptions) in alignment with MSCI Tax policies. Maintain audit trails for tax authority reviews and client compliance requests, mitigating risks and ensuring transparency.
- Cross-Department Coordination: Bridge the gap between Billing and Collections in real time, updating stakeholders on invoice statuses, re-issue timelines, and dispute resolutions. Ensure credit memos, adjustments, and re-billings are accurately posted to the AR ledger, contributing to MENA-specific insights in periodic AR reviews. Lead cross-functional resolution of billing disputes and tax discrepancies, engaging clients and internal teams (Tax, Legal, Sales) for seamless closure.
- Reporting & Analytics: Drive data-driven decision-making by maintaining comprehensive MENA billing and collections reports, including issuance trackers, aging summaries, dispute logs, and compliance statuses. Support month-end close and reconciliation processes while contributing to key performance indicators such as invoice rejection rates.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in the MENA billing-to-collections workflow and propose actionable improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Support the implementation of new billing tools and e-invoicing platforms, while developing and maintaining a country-specific MENA billing reference guide for internal use.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for regulatory compliance, client service, and process optimization. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are eager to make a tangible impact on MSCI’s financial operations in the MENA region, we invite you to apply.
