Consultant Urologist

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Consultant Urologist to join our esteemed healthcare team at NMC Hospitals and Clinics. In this pivotal role, you will deliver exceptional urological care to both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring adherence to the highest professional standards, ethical practices, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

The Consultant Urologist will be responsible for the following core duties and responsibilities:

• Patient Care and Clinical Leadership:
  • Provide superior medical treatment, compassion, and understanding to all patients, upholding the principles of professional medical ethics and JCIA standards.
  • Deliver patient care within the scope of clinical privileges, ensuring adherence to scientifically valid and clinically relevant standards, guidelines, and criteria.
  • Conduct regular ward rounds, both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, to develop comprehensive treatment plans, including pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic urological procedures with precision and expertise.
  • Assess and refer patients to appropriate medical facilities when necessary, while also accepting referrals within the specialty.
• Emergency Response and On-Call Duties:
  • Participate in the department’s on-call rota to ensure continuous patient care and admission support.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, offering expert advice and actively participating in problem resolution related to urological conditions.
• Patient Rights and Documentation:
  • Uphold and safeguard patients’ rights to security, confidentiality, and privacy at all times.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and legible medical records for all patients, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Leadership and Quality Improvement:
  • Provide strong leadership in the organization’s performance, supervising junior staff and fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Lead performance-improvement initiatives by measuring, assessing, and enhancing clinical and non-clinical processes as part of the Departmental Quality Plan.
  • Actively participate in committee meetings, including Quality Improvement, Infection Control, and other relevant bodies.
• Continuing Professional Development:
  • Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) through hospital-based activities such as morning report meetings, grand rounds, clinical tutorials, seminars, journal clubs, and clinico-pathological conferences.
  • Attend national and international conferences, symposia, and meetings to stay abreast of advancements in urology.
  • Contribute to training programs within the hospital, including mentoring junior medical staff, nursing personnel, and technicians.
  • Continuously update medical knowledge and upgrade professional skills to maintain clinical proficiency.
• Patient and Family Education:
  • Educate patients and their families according to their needs, ensuring full participation in the patient and family education process as outlined in the hospital’s policies.
  • Involve patients and families in care planning, respecting their goals and preferences while providing health promotion and education tailored to individual learning needs, cultural backgrounds, and developmental stages.
  • Allocate sufficient time to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient education, documenting all interactions thoroughly.
• Compliance and Professional Conduct:
  • Adhere strictly to departmental policies, hospital by-laws, and the laws of the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as any other applicable regulations.
  • Perform all duties with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates for this role must meet the following requirements:

• A valid medical license to practice urology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
• Board certification or equivalent in Urology, with a minimum of 5 years of post-residency experience in a clinical setting.
• Proven leadership experience in a hospital or clinical environment, with a track record of driving quality improvement initiatives.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mentor and supervise junior staff effectively.
• Commitment to patient-centered care, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
• Proficiency in Arabic and/or English, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
