Key Responsibilities

The Urban Consultant will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

• Urban Planning and Design: Developing comprehensive urban plans, zoning strategies, and design guidelines that promote sustainable and inclusive development. You will analyze demographic trends, land use patterns, and infrastructure needs to create actionable recommendations.
• Policy Development and Implementation: Assisting government agencies and private sector clients in crafting policies that foster smart growth, reduce urban sprawl, and enhance public transportation systems. Your expertise will be critical in aligning projects with national and international urban development standards.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitating collaboration between public and private entities, as well as community groups, to ensure that urban projects reflect diverse perspectives and address the needs of all residents. This includes organizing workshops, public consultations, and presentations to communicate project goals and gather feedback.
• Sustainability and Resilience: Integrating green building practices, renewable energy solutions, and climate-resilient infrastructure into urban projects. You will assess environmental impacts and recommend strategies to minimize carbon footprints while maximizing resource efficiency.
• Project Management: Overseeing the execution of urban development projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements. This includes coordinating with cross-functional teams, monitoring progress, and mitigating risks.
• Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilizing advanced analytical tools and GIS software to evaluate urban data, assess project outcomes, and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders. Your insights will drive data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geography, or a related field. Professional certifications such as LEED, AICP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in urban planning, consulting, or a related discipline. Prior work in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, is a strong advantage.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in urban planning software (e.g., AutoCAD, ArcGIS, SketchUp) and data analysis tools. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and sustainability assessment frameworks is a plus.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to interpret complex urban data, identify trends, and develop innovative solutions to address challenges such as traffic congestion, housing shortages, and environmental degradation.
