About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Project Manager – Banking IT Operations (m/f/d) to join our global technology and consulting services team. In this pivotal role, you will lead and deliver complex IT infrastructure, security, and operations initiatives within a highly regulated banking environment. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving mission-critical projects that support major financial institutions, ensuring seamless execution while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, security, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of IT infrastructure and operations projects, collaborating closely with engineering teams, vendors, and business stakeholders. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Project Leadership & Execution:
  • Lead the full lifecycle of IT infrastructure and operations projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery within the banking environment.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including technical work breakdown structures, dependency maps, and detailed schedules.
  • Oversee project scope, timelines, risks, budgets, and resources across multiple concurrent workstreams to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage critical initiatives such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments with minimal business disruption, adhering to structured change management processes.
  • Ensure all projects comply with architectural standards, cybersecurity frameworks, and stringent regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and refine standardized project delivery frameworks to enhance operational consistency and efficiency.
• Technical Delivery Management:
  • Oversee diverse workstreams, including collaboration platform upgrades, security control implementations, observability solutions, and cloud operations.
  • Manage initiatives spanning servers, networks, storage, virtualization, and disaster recovery/continuity environments to ensure robust and resilient IT operations.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
  • Manage relationships with vendors and external service partners, ensuring strict adherence to contractual obligations and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Provide clear, concise, and actionable project reporting, including risk updates and audit responses, to leadership and governance forums.
  • Facilitate seamless coordination across infrastructure, cloud, networking, application, and security teams to drive cohesive project outcomes.
• Risk, Compliance & Governance:
  • Enforce adherence to IT risk management frameworks, cybersecurity policies, and both internal and external regulatory standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, approvals, compliance evidence, and audit-ready artifacts to support regulatory oversight and internal audits.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you will bring a blend of technical expertise, project management acumen, and strong leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Professional Experience:
  • 5–10+ years of hands-on IT project management experience, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in banking or financial services.
  • Proven track record in managing complex technical initiatives, including infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while maintaining focus on deliverables and outcomes.
• Technical Competencies:
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise collaboration systems, identity platforms, and directory services.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and observability technologies.
  • Familiarity with IT security controls, compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST), and virtualization platforms.
  • Working knowledge of ITSM processes aligned with ITIL best practices.
• Project Management Competencies:
  • Expertise in project planning, risk assessment (RAID logs), governance reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in project delivery tools such as MS Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe) are highly desirable.
• Soft Skills:
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a high sense of ownership and accountability.

• Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field is required.
  • A Master’s degree or advanced certifications in project management or cybersecurity will be considered a significant advantage.
