About the Role

FileCloud is seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineer, Client Applications (macOS) to join our dynamic team based in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead the development of the core sync and OS integration layer for FileCloud Desktop on macOS, leveraging your expertise in system-level programming with Swift. Your responsibilities will encompass designing and implementing robust sync and filesystem logic, seamless integration with Finder, and close collaboration with QA and UI teams to deliver a seamless user experience. This is a fully office-based position, offering the opportunity to work alongside a talented remote team within our KSA office.

Key Responsibilities

• System-Level Development: Design, implement, and maintain core system-level components for FileCloud Desktop on macOS using Swift (Swift 5.5 and higher).
• Apple Framework Integration: Work extensively with Apple’s File Provider framework, including FileProvider domain management and Endpoint Security/ESClient, to handle filesystem events, placeholders, hydration/dehydration, and user actions.
• API Development: Implement and maintain gRPC services and clients (and JSON/REST-style APIs where applicable) to facilitate seamless communication between system components and higher-level layers, such as Electron/TypeScript UI and server-side services.
• Cross-Platform Contributions: If you possess Windows experience, contribute to Windows system components developed in modern C++ using the Windows Cloud Files API (CFAPI).
• Testing & Debugging: Develop and maintain comprehensive unit tests (gtest) and integration tests (Python + pytest) to ensure robust and reliable software. Utilize tools like Xcode, LLDB, and Instruments to debug complex issues in production-like environments.
• CI/CD & Build Pipelines: Contribute to build and CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins, Xcode build system, Swift Package Manager, and shell scripting, to streamline development and deployment processes.
• Finder Integration: Integrate with Finder to enable file badges, context menus, and other extensions using File Provider and PlugInKit.

Key Skills & Experience

• Swift & macOS System Programming: Strong commercial experience with Swift (Swift 5.5 and higher), including async/await, actors, and structured concurrency. Solid knowledge of macOS internals, such as processes, Grand Central Dispatch, Swift concurrency primitives, synchronization, I/O, memory, and security entitlements.
• Filesystems, Sync & Networking: Good understanding of filesystem behavior, including notifications, caching, metadata, locking, renames, and symlinks/junctions. Experience or strong interest in sync/backup clients, cloud storage, or related areas. Familiarity with networked applications (HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, proxies) from a developer perspective.
• APIs, Testing & Debugging: Experience with RPC/typed APIs (e.g., gRPC, JSON/REST) and proficiency in debugging tools like Xcode, LLDB, and Instruments.
• Collaboration & Leadership: Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including QA and UI teams, to deliver high-quality software solutions. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving complex technical challenges.
