Senior PHP Backend Developer (Riyadh, KSA)

About the Role

FileCloud is seeking a highly motivated Senior PHP Backend Developer to join our dynamic Growth & Expansion team in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this fully office-based role, you will play a pivotal part in developing robust server-side functionality and scalable cloud-based services that power our industry-leading Enterprise File Sync and Share (EFSS) platform. As a key contributor to a global team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional departments to enhance FileCloud’s hyper-secure, compliance-driven solutions, including its recently acquired e-signature and document workflow platform, Signority. Key Responsibilities

• Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain elegant, efficient, and resilient software solutions to support and extend FileCloud’s core products, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
• Technical Implementation: Utilize a diverse tech stack, including PHPStorm, MongoDB, NodeJS, AWS/Azure, Git, Memcache, PHPUnit, and Solr, to build and optimize backend systems that integrate seamlessly with databases, file systems, and cloud services.
• Architectural Challenges: Tackle complex architectural problems when implementing new features, ensuring solutions align with industry best practices and organizational goals.
• Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve reported customer issues promptly, delivering timely software patches and updates to maintain system reliability and user satisfaction.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Share technical expertise and best practices with fellow engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
• AI-Assisted Development: Leverage AI-powered coding assistants, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor, to streamline development workflows, including code generation, review, debugging, and documentation.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you must possess the following:

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 4 years in software engineering, with at least 3 years dedicated to web application development and 3 years specializing in PHP development.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Strong understanding of client-server architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
  • Expertise in PHP ecosystems, including PHP 8.2+, Composer, and PHPUnit.
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTTP protocol, XML, and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with automation testing and modern PHP frameworks.
• Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional written and spoken English skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
• Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, CI/CD pipelines (preferably Jenkins), Docker, and tools like Redis and SOLR.

Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, knowledge of enterprise system architecture, familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB), and experience with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. Proficiency in NodeJS, JavaScript, or TypeScript is a plus.
