Cloud Engineer
الوصف الوظيفي
About the Role
Penta Consulting, a distinguished technology service provider and trusted outsourced partner, is seeking a highly skilled and certified Senior Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in architecting, deploying, and operating production-grade workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role demands a rare blend of deep technical expertise in GCP services, proven FinOps acumen, and a track record of delivering measurable cost optimizations in enterprise cloud environments. While a GCP certification is mandatory, it is the candidate’s demonstrated production experience that will be the primary focus of our evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our clients’ cloud strategies. Your responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of technical and operational duties, including:
- Cloud Architecture & Deployment: Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available multi-region GCP infrastructure tailored for production workloads. Your solutions must align with enterprise-grade requirements for performance, compliance, and resilience.
- GCP Cloud Strategy Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive cloud strategies, including resource hierarchy design (organization, folder, and project levels), VPC architecture, Shared VPC configurations, IAM governance frameworks, and lifecycle management for service accounts.
- Container & Serverless Workloads: Take ownership of deploying and managing containerized and serverless workloads on GCP, including Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) in both Autopilot and Standard modes, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Compute Engine instances.
- FinOps & Cost Optimization: Lead the FinOps practice by implementing robust cloud cost governance frameworks, setting up budget alerts, conducting right-sizing analyses, and optimizing Commitment and Sustained Use Discounts (CUD/SUD) purchasing to drive significant cost reductions.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, maintain, and scale Terraform modules to provision and manage all aspects of GCP infrastructure—spanning networking, compute, data services, and security controls—ensuring consistency, repeatability, and efficiency across deployments.
- Disaster Recovery & Compliance: Design and implement multi-region and multi-zone architectures that ensure high availability, minimize latency, and comply with data residency and regulatory requirements.
- Cost Reporting & Strategic Planning: Generate monthly cloud cost reports and trend analyses for engineering leadership and finance teams. Present actionable optimization roadmaps to drive continuous improvement in cloud spending efficiency.
- Security & Compliance Enforcement: Implement and manage advanced GCP security controls, including VPC Service Controls, Cloud Armor WAF, Security Command Center, Customer-Managed Encryption Keys (CMEK), and Binary Authorization, to safeguard critical workloads and data.
- Resource Governance & Attribution: Establish and enforce standardized resource labeling and tagging policies to enable accurate cost attribution, chargeback, and showback reporting, fostering transparency and accountability across the organization.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Act as a technical mentor to junior engineers, guiding them on GCP best practices. Contribute to the development of cloud governance documentation and internal platform tooling to elevate the overall maturity of our cloud operations.
Qualifications & Experience
To excel in this role, you must bring a combination of advanced technical skills, hands-on experience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ideal candidate will have:
- A GCP certification, with a preference for advanced credentials such as Professional Cloud Architect or Professional DevOps Engineer.
- At least five years of direct experience architecting, deploying, and operating production workloads on GCP.
- Proven expertise in FinOps practices, including cost governance, budget management, and optimization strategies.
- Hands-on proficiency with Terraform, GKE (Autopilot & Standard), Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Compute Engine, and GCP security services.
- Strong understanding of networking principles, IAM policies, and multi-region architecture design.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret cloud cost data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
If you are a forward-thinking Cloud Engineer with a passion for innovation and a commitment to excellence, we invite you to join Penta Consulting and contribute to our mission of delivering cutting-edge cloud solutions to our clients across EMEA.
