Logistics Officer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Logistics Officer to join our dynamic construction team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the seamless coordination, delivery, and monitoring of construction materials, heavy machinery, and specialized equipment to multiple project sites. Your expertise will ensure that all deliveries are executed punctually, within budget, and in full compliance with stringent safety regulations and site-specific access protocols. By preventing any disruptions to construction progress, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining project timelines and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The Logistics Officer will oversee a wide range of logistical operations to support our construction projects. Your core duties will include:

• Site Delivery Coordination: Develop and execute daily delivery schedules for construction materials, including steel, cement, MEP components, and fit-out materials, aligning them with the site construction schedule and material requisitions (MRs).
• Heavy Equipment & Machinery Movement: Manage the mobilization and demobilization of heavy machinery, tower cranes, and site equipment between storage yards and active construction sites, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Customs & Specialized Cargo Clearance: Oversee the processing of documentation for specialized construction materials and heavy equipment, ensuring seamless customs clearance in accordance with local import regulations. Additionally, track and secure specialized transport permits where required.
• Site Access & Safety Compliance: Collaborate closely with Site Managers and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) teams to verify that delivery vehicles meet site safety standards. Ensure that offloading zones and specialized equipment, such as forklifts or cranes, are prepared and operational for efficient material handling.
• Material Tracking & Discrepancy Management: Monitor inbound shipments in real-time, proactively identifying potential delays that could impact project timelines. Conduct thorough inspections of delivered materials alongside the site storekeeper to document any damages, shortages, or discrepancies against purchase orders (POs).
• Supplier & Transporter Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with local transport vendors, heavy haulage providers, and freight forwarders. Validate transporter invoices against site delivery notes (DNs) and pre-agreed rates before processing payments through finance.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Civil/Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration from a recognized institution.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on logistics experience, specifically within the Construction, Contracting, or Fit-out industry.
• Local Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Saudi regulations governing heavy vehicle movement restrictions, municipality permits, and compliance platforms such as FASAH and SABER.

Required Skills & Competencies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following competencies to ensure operational excellence:

• Construction Logistics Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of the handling, storage, and transportation requirements for a diverse range of construction materials and heavy equipment.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of construction-focused ERP systems, including SAP, Oracle, or Candy/RIB, alongside advanced skills in MS Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Stress & Crisis Management: Exceptional ability to perform under pressure, swiftly resolving unexpected challenges such as site delays, vehicle breakdowns, or sudden changes in project priorities.
• Communication & Negotiation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Arabic, enabling effective collaboration with project managers, site storekeepers, and external stakeholders, including truck drivers and suppliers.
• HSE Awareness: A solid grasp of construction site safety protocols, particularly concerning material lifting, offloading procedures, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
