Key Responsibilities

The Clinical Instructor will be responsible for a wide range of duties that contribute to the academic and professional development of nursing students. These responsibilities include:

• Clinical Teaching and Supervision:
  • Oversee and mentor nursing students during clinical rotations, laboratory sessions, simulation activities, and practical training to ensure they apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
  • Model and demonstrate safe, ethical, and evidence-based nursing practices in clinical environments, setting a professional standard for students to emulate.
  • Facilitate interactive case discussions, simulation-based learning exercises, and clinical demonstrations to enhance students' understanding and competency.
  • Evaluate students’ clinical performance, technical skills, and professional behavior using structured and objective assessment tools.
  • Deliver timely, constructive, and growth-oriented feedback to students, fostering their development and confidence in clinical practice.
  • Leverage educational technologies and the Learning Management System (Blackboard) to support and enhance teaching methodologies and student engagement.
• Student Support and Development:
  • Act as a mentor and guide for students, helping them navigate academic challenges, clinical uncertainties, and professional dilemmas.
  • Promote critical thinking, patient-centered care, and adherence to professional conduct among students to prepare them for successful careers in nursing.
  • Monitor and document student performance throughout clinical rotations, contributing to comprehensive evaluations and progress reports.
• Academic and Administrative Duties:
  • Participate actively in student assessment processes, including grading, performance reviews, and final evaluations, ensuring fairness and transparency.
  • Prepare detailed course reports and maintain meticulous records of academic and clinical documentation, including attendance, evaluations, and student progress.
  • Submit grades, attendance records, evaluations, and reports in a timely manner to support academic administration and compliance with institutional standards.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of nursing courses, aligning curriculum with industry best practices and evolving healthcare needs.
• Professional Conduct and Collaboration:
  • Uphold institutional policies, clinical regulations, and ethical standards in all teaching and professional activities to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty members, healthcare partners, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to foster a cohesive and supportive educational ecosystem.
  • Engage in departmental meetings, workshops, and professional development activities to stay current with advancements in nursing education and practice.
• Community Engagement:
  • Participate in healthcare awareness campaigns, community outreach initiatives, and public health programs that align with the college’s mission and vision.

Requirements and Competencies

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• A valid professional nursing license or registration, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• At least one year of hands-on clinical nursing experience in a reputable healthcare setting.
• Prior experience in teaching, clinical supervision, or mentoring is highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset.
• Demonstrated proficiency in simulation-based education and familiarity with Learning Management Systems, particularly Blackboard.
