Technical Evaluator – Operations

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Evaluator – Operations to deliver expert technical assessments, evaluations, and operational support for critical refinery process units. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal performance, reliability, and adherence to rigorous engineering and safety standards across key units within the refinery. This role demands a deep understanding of complex refinery operations, a commitment to operational excellence, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in process efficiency and safety.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a specialization in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in refinery operations, demonstrating a strong technical foundation in process unit management.
• Proven expertise in operating and evaluating the following process units:
  • Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCCU)
  • Unsaturated Gas Plant
  • Alkylation Unit
  • Sulfuric Acid Recovery Unit
  • Selective Hydrogenation Unit
• Prior experience within a Saudi Aramco or major refinery environment is highly desirable, reflecting familiarity with industry-leading operational and safety protocols.

Core Responsibilities

As a Technical Evaluator – Operations, your primary responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive technical evaluations and performance assessments of refinery process units to ensure operational integrity and compliance with engineering standards. You will provide critical operational and technical support for the FCCU, Unsaturated Gas Plant, Alkylation Unit, Sulfuric Acid Recovery Unit, and Selective Hydrogenation Unit, driving reliability and efficiency across these key areas.

Your role will involve reviewing and analyzing process data to identify performance gaps, deviations, and opportunities for improvement. You will evaluate operational procedures, technical proposals, and contractor submissions to ensure alignment with refinery objectives and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will support troubleshooting efforts, root cause analysis, and technical investigations to address process upsets and enhance operational stability.

Collaboration is essential in this position, as you will work closely with process engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to optimize unit performance and reliability. You will ensure that all evaluations and recommendations adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards, quality benchmarks, and refinery operating protocols. Your contributions will extend to preparing detailed technical evaluation reports and actionable recommendations for operational improvements, as well as supporting turnaround planning and technical readiness reviews to ensure seamless execution and minimal disruption.
