Presales Engineer (Solutions Engineer) – ICT & MEP

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Presales Engineer to join our dynamic team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the technical backbone of our sales process, transforming complex customer requirements, RFPs, and tenders into compliant, innovative, and cost-effective solutions across a diverse range of projects, including network infrastructure, physical security & ELV systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), MEP works, and full-scale data center projects. Your expertise will bridge the gap between technical feasibility and commercial viability, ensuring that every proposal is not only competitive but also deliverable and sustainable.

Core Responsibilities

As a Presales Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass the entire lifecycle of technical proposals, from initial analysis to final handover. Your duties will include:

• Tender & Proposal Management:
  • Conduct thorough analysis of RFPs, RFQs, and tender documents, including Etimad submissions, to identify technical and compliance requirements.
  • Develop comprehensive compliance matrices, clarification questions, and deviation lists to ensure alignment with customer expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Lead the end-to-end preparation of technical proposals, including solution narratives, architectural designs, detailed drawings, Bill of Quantities (BOQ), method statements, and implementation strategies.
  • Ensure all proposals adhere to industry-recognized standards such as TIA-942, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, NFPA, and BICSI, as well as local regulations including the Saudi Building Code, Civil Defense requirements, and CST guidelines.
• Solution Design & Engineering:
  • Network Infrastructure: Design and validate structured cabling systems (copper and fiber), pathways, telecom rooms, and active networks, including switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, and unified communications solutions, in alignment with vendor-validated architectures.
  • Physical Security & ELV Systems: Develop integrated solutions for CCTV, access control, intrusion detection, fire detection and suppression, voice evacuation systems, and VMS/PSIM platforms, ensuring full compliance with Civil Defense mandates.
  • Building Management Systems (BMS): Architect BMS solutions with detailed points lists, protocol integrations (BACnet, Modbus, KNX), and seamless connectivity to HVAC, lighting, power, and security systems for centralized monitoring and control.
  • MEP Works: Provide technical oversight for electrical (panels, lighting, power distribution, earthing, low voltage systems) and mechanical (HVAC, firefighting, plumbing) scopes, ensuring seamless integration with technology systems and rigorous clash coordination between MEP and technology drawings.
  • Data Center Projects: Deliver concept and preliminary designs for data centers across all tier levels, covering civil and fit-out works (raised floors, insulation), power infrastructure (UPS, generators, ATS, PDUs), precision cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH, containment), rack layouts, cabling, active components (servers, storage, networking, security), and DCIM/environmental monitoring solutions. Conduct capacity, redundancy, and PUE calculations to optimize performance and efficiency.
• Costing, Vendor & Commercial Support:
  • Develop accurate BOQs and cost models, incorporating materials, labor, subcontractor quotes, licenses, warranties, and O&M costs to ensure competitive yet profitable pricing.
  • Collaborate with vendors to secure special pricing, validate designs, and manage partner programs, including deal registration and technical support.
• Customer Engagement & Handover:
  • Lead discovery meetings, site surveys, and technical presentations to articulate solutions clearly and persuasively in both Arabic and English.
  • Conduct demonstrations, proof-of-concept activities, and negotiations, providing technical clarifications, value engineering alternatives, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate a seamless transition from sales to delivery by conducting formal handover sessions, documenting scope, assumptions, risks, BOQs, and vendor commitments for the Project Manager. Provide ongoing support during design development and change order processes.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecom Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in presales, solutions engineering, or design engineering, with at least 3 years dedicated to ICT, ELV, data center, or critical infrastructure projects.
• A proven track record of winning technical proposals for integrated projects that combine civil, MEP, and technology scopes, with a preference for candidates experienced in government tenders and Etimad submissions.
• Willingness to relocate to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; candidates based outside the Kingdom are encouraged to apply.

Key Skills & Competencies

We are looking for a candidate with a deep, demonstrable understanding of networking, physical security, BMS, MEP, and data center standards, capable of justifying every design decision with technical rigor and commercial insight. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Visio, and MS Office is essential, along with familiarity with vendor design tools. Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills are critical to success in this role.
