Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Infrastructure Operations Engineer to provide senior-level technical leadership within a sophisticated hybrid infrastructure environment for one of our esteemed clients. This pivotal role demands a strategic mindset, deep technical expertise, and the ability to drive operational excellence across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid systems. The ideal candidate will oversee the day-to-day performance of complex infrastructure while identifying opportunities for improvement, ensuring high availability, resilience, and robust security. This position requires a hands-on leader capable of managing advanced troubleshooting, incident response, and long-term infrastructure roadmaps, all while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Leadership and Operations: Lead the operational performance of hybrid cloud, server, network, and on-premises infrastructure, ensuring optimal availability, scalability, and reliability. Serve as the primary escalation point for complex infrastructure, networking, and security-related incidents, providing expert guidance and resolution.
• Architectural and Operational Assessments: Evaluate the existing technology landscape to identify architectural gaps, capacity constraints, operational inefficiencies, and security vulnerabilities. Develop and execute strategic improvement initiatives focused on enhancing availability, resilience, performance, and risk mitigation.
• Advanced Administration and Troubleshooting: Manage and troubleshoot physical servers, virtual environments, storage systems, backup solutions, and cloud services with a high degree of technical proficiency. Oversee network infrastructure, including switches, wireless access points, routing protocols, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and network-access controls.
• Facility and Security Technology Oversight: Provide technical direction for critical facility-related systems such as Cisco ISE, CCTV, and other building-technology solutions. Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team to implement and maintain stringent security measures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
• Standardization and Governance: Establish and enforce infrastructure standards, operating procedures, system-hardening guidelines, and technical controls. Define monitoring and reporting frameworks to track infrastructure performance, capacity utilization, backup effectiveness, and disaster-recovery readiness.
• Incident Management and Continuous Improvement: Lead major-incident response efforts, conduct thorough root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Review and approve technical changes to assess impact, ensure proper documentation, and facilitate seamless implementation.
• Stakeholder and Vendor Coordination: Act as a liaison between internal teams, cloud providers, technology vendors, and service partners to ensure alignment on delivery, support, and modernization initiatives. Advise leadership on future infrastructure investments, modernization opportunities, and service enhancements to drive long-term value.
• Team Development and Knowledge Sharing: Mentor infrastructure team members and conduct structured knowledge-transfer sessions to elevate the team’s technical capabilities. Contribute to approved transformation, modernization, or migration programs as a key technical contributor.
• Documentation and Compliance: Maintain comprehensive infrastructure roadmaps, technical documentation, continuity plans, and operational records. Ensure all infrastructure operations adhere to company policies, cybersecurity controls, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in infrastructure operations, systems administration, and enterprise networking, with a focus on hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Windows and/or Linux administration, virtualization technologies, storage solutions, and backup systems. Extensive expertise in routing, switching, wireless infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, and network-access control.
• Cloud Platforms: Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or comparable cloud platforms, including design, deployment, and optimization.
• Security and Compliance: Proven understanding of infrastructure security principles, system hardening techniques, vulnerability remediation, and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls).
• Analytical and Leadership Skills: Ability to assess complex environments, prioritize initiatives, and develop realistic improvement roadmaps. Demonstrated success in managing major incidents, conducting root-cause analysis, and leading technical teams.
• Communication and Collaboration: Strong stakeholder engagement, vendor management, and reporting skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: Advanced certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, AWS, Azure, cybersecurity, or related technologies, such as CCNP, Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, VCP, CISSP, or equivalent.
• Specialized Experience: Hands-on experience with Cisco ISE, enterprise CCTV systems, or building-technology environments. Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools, automation platforms, backup solutions, and disaster-recovery frameworks.
• ITIL Certification: Experience with ITIL practices and methodologies for service management and operational excellence.
