Project Overview: Expo 2030 Riyadh
Expo 2030 Riyadh is a premier global platform where nations, organizations, and individuals converge to collaborate, innovate, and envision the future. Under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow”, this six-month event—scheduled from October 2030 to March 2031—will welcome over 40 million visitors and provide a stage for transformative thinking, sustainable development, and groundbreaking innovation.
The 6 km² masterplan for Expo 2030 Riyadh outlines a comprehensive framework for participation and infrastructure, featuring a total exhibition space of 491,100 m² GFA. This expansive venue will accommodate up to 197 participating countries and 29 international organizations. In close partnership with the Expo 2030 Riyadh Company (ERC), Bechtel is tasked with managing the infrastructure program, which includes early works, utilities, and publicly accessible spaces such as streets and parks. Following the event, the site will transition into a dynamic mixed-use legacy development, contributing to the long-term growth and vitality of the community. The project’s master plan adheres to international sustainability standards, emphasizing urban afforestation, treated water, and renewable energy sources.
Role Summary
As a Contract Administrator for Expo 2030 Riyadh, you will play a pivotal role in managing contracts and agreements that support the successful delivery of this landmark event and its legacy development. This position involves overseeing smaller-value, routine contracts while providing support for higher-value and more complex agreements. Your responsibilities will include monitoring contract progress, identifying commercial challenges, and ensuring alignment with project objectives. You will prepare and manage correspondence, trackers, minutes, presentations, variation orders, and amendments, ensuring all documentation is accurate, compliant, and approved by management. Additionally, you will perform other duties as assigned in line with the Contracts Administrator role.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Award Phase
- Contract Development & Issuance: Develop and issue contracts and agreements in accordance with established procedures. Provide input to and prepare supporting tender documents, including forming and issuing tender packages, tracking queries, and ensuring timely closure of tender processes.
- Meeting & Workshop Coordination: Organize and prepare for meetings and workshops to facilitate collaboration and decision-making.
- Document Preparation: Prepare contract documents for execution in collaboration with the Customer’s team, ensuring all terms and conditions are accurately reflected.
- Status Reporting & Documentation: Maintain control and status reporting documents to track progress and ensure transparency. Prepare pre-award reports, presentations, and other programmatic documents that support the vision and objectives of EXPO2030.
- Additional Duties: Perform other pre-award duties as required to ensure the smooth initiation of contracts.
Post-Award Phase
- Contract & Commercial Management: Participate in the implementation of Contract & Commercial Management Procedures to administer contracts effectively.
- Risk Identification & Mitigation: Review contract general terms and conditions to identify risks, ambiguities, conflicts, or deviations from the scope of work. Recommend actions to mitigate these risks and ensure compliance.
- Compliance Monitoring: Develop and manage mechanisms to monitor compliance with contract terms and conditions, ensuring all parties adhere to their obligations.
- Dispute Resolution: Identify and recommend resolutions for contract-related issues, working collaboratively to address challenges and maintain project momentum.
Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, candidates should possess a strong background in contract administration, with experience in managing both pre-award and post-award phases. Proficiency in preparing and reviewing contract documents, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations is essential. Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills are required to support cross-functional teams and deliver high-quality outcomes. Familiarity with international standards and sustainability practices in infrastructure development is a plus.
