About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Storage & Backup Administrator to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure team. In this critical role, you will oversee the management, optimization, and protection of our enterprise storage environments, ensuring seamless data availability, robust backup and recovery operations, and adherence to stringent security and compliance standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in safeguarding business-critical systems while supporting infrastructure projects and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Storage & Backup Administrator, your core responsibilities will encompass the following areas:

• Enterprise Storage Management:
  • Administer and maintain high-performance SAN, NAS, and DAS storage infrastructures to meet evolving business demands.
  • Monitor storage capacity, performance metrics, and system health using advanced enterprise monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Execute storage provisioning, zoning, and LUN management to ensure efficient resource allocation and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate on storage optimization initiatives and capacity planning to align infrastructure with organizational growth objectives.
• Backup & Recovery Operations:
  • Manage and maintain enterprise-grade backup solutions, with a focus on Veeam, to ensure reliable data protection and rapid recovery capabilities.
  • Oversee backup monitoring, validation, and troubleshooting processes to maintain data integrity and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct periodic backup testing and recovery drills to validate disaster recovery plans and enhance business continuity readiness.
• Incident & Problem Management:
  • Diagnose and resolve storage and backup-related incidents with a methodical approach, minimizing impact on business operations.
  • Engage with external vendors and managed service providers (MSPs) to escalate and resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) exercises and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of identified issues.
• Security & Compliance Assurance:
  • Enforce data protection policies, encryption standards, and security protocols to safeguard sensitive information against unauthorized access or breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements pertaining to data retention and protection.
• Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of storage and backup environments, including configurations, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Generate detailed reports on storage utilization trends, performance metrics, and backup success rates to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Assist in audit preparations and compliance assessments to demonstrate adherence to industry regulations and internal standards.
• Project Support & Technical Leadership:
  • Provide expert technical guidance for infrastructure projects, including storage expansion, data migration initiatives, and cloud integration strategies.
  • Contribute to vendor assessments, Request for Proposal (RFP) evaluations, and solution assessments to identify optimal technologies and partnerships.

Required Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of seven years of hands-on experience in enterprise storage and backup administration, with a proven track record of managing complex environments.
• In-depth expertise in enterprise storage platforms, including Dell EMC and HPE, with a strong understanding of their architectures and best practices.
• Comprehensive knowledge of backup technologies and disaster recovery planning, with a focus on implementing resilient and scalable solutions.
• Proficiency in virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V, including integration with storage and backup systems.
• Familiarity with cloud storage services, particularly Microsoft Azure and AWS, and their role in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
