Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate General Practitioner (Surgery) to join our esteemed healthcare team at NMC Hospitals and Clinics. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional medical care to patients while adhering to the highest standards of evidence-based medicine, professional ethics, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care and Management: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests, to formulate comprehensive management plans. Ensure that all patient interactions reflect a high standard of compassion, professionalism, and adherence to ethical guidelines.
• Inpatient and Outpatient Services: Perform daily ward rounds for inpatients, liaising closely with consultants to optimize patient care. Evaluate new admissions, coordinate diagnostic investigations, and execute approved management plans in collaboration with senior medical staff. Provide medical care in outpatient settings, including the Emergency Room (ER) and Outpatient Department (OPD), under the supervision of senior staff.
• Diagnostic Procedures: Conduct essential diagnostic procedures such as bone marrow aspirations, biopsies, lumbar punctures, and personal cavity aspirations, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times. Document all procedures and findings meticulously in patient records.
• Collaboration and Communication: Actively participate in daily morning reports, on-call rotations, and multidisciplinary meetings, including Grand Rounds, tutorials, Journal Clubs, and morbidity and mortality reviews. Present patient cases, share insights, and contribute to the department’s educational initiatives to foster a culture of continuous learning.
• Administrative and Educational Duties: Prepare detailed problem lists, discharge summaries, death reports, and special patient reports as required. Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities and departmental training programs to stay abreast of advancements in medical practice. Assist in educating patients and their families about their conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care measures, ensuring clear documentation of all educational interactions.
• Compliance and Professionalism: Uphold the policies, procedures, and by-laws of the Department of Internal Medicine, as well as the rules and regulations of Riyadh Care Hospital. Ensure compliance with the Ministry of Health’s laws in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, CBAHI/JCIA standards, and hospital medical by-laws. Maintain a professional demeanor and ethical conduct in all aspects of your role.
• Patient and Family-Centered Care: Involve patients and their families in the care planning process, respecting their preferences, cultural backgrounds, and individual goals. Provide health promotion and education tailored to each patient’s developmental stage, learning needs, and readiness, with appropriate documentation in the medical record.

Reporting and Collaboration

This role reports directly to the Senior Registrar, Consultant Internist, or Consultant of the relevant subspecialty, as well as the Head of the Department. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and supporting healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive and patient-centered approach to care. Your ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, will be critical to the success of this position.

Qualifications and Requirements

Candidates must possess a valid medical license, with a specialization in General Practice or Surgery. Proficiency in English is essential, and fluency in Arabic is highly desirable. Prior experience in a hospital or clinical setting, particularly in inpatient and outpatient care, is preferred.
