System Engineering Consultant

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Engineering Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of hands-on expertise in Linux systems administration, virtualization, containerization, and enterprise infrastructure management. This role is pivotal in designing, deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting robust infrastructure environments to support critical business operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions while ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The System Engineering Consultant will be responsible for a diverse range of technical tasks, including but not limited to:

• OpenShift Container Platform: Deploy, configure, and manage OpenShift Container Platform (preferably version 4.x), ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability for containerized applications.
• Red Hat Linux Administration: Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 7.x, 8.x, and 9.x, including patch management, performance tuning, and system optimization.
• Server and Storage Infrastructure: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of server hardware, storage systems (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, FCoE), and associated network equipment to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Containerization and Orchestration: Manage Docker containers and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Mesosphere, and OpenShift, facilitating seamless deployment and scaling of applications.
• Virtualization Management: Administer VMware vSphere 8.x and VMware NSX environments, including virtual machine provisioning, network virtualization, and security policies.
• Red Hat Satellite and Capsule Servers: Configure and maintain Red Hat Satellite and Capsule servers to streamline system provisioning, patching, and lifecycle management across the enterprise.
• Linux Networking, Storage, and Security: Provide expert-level support for Linux networking protocols, storage solutions, and security frameworks, including identity management via Red Hat Linux IPA.
• Cloud Computing and Security: Support cloud-based environments, encompassing virtualization, containerization, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and cloud security measures to ensure data integrity and compliance.
• Troubleshooting and Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and system issues promptly, minimizing downtime and enhancing operational efficiency.

Required Skills and Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following technical areas:

• OpenShift Container Platform and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
• Container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, and Mesosphere.
• Virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere 8.x and VMware NSX.
• Automation and configuration management with Ansible.
• Linux networking, storage (SAN, NAS, iSCSI, FCoE), and security protocols.
• Shell scripting and Linux programming for automation and system optimization.
• Cloud computing, IaaS, and cloud security best practices.
• Red Hat Satellite and Capsule Server management for centralized system administration.
• Server and storage hardware configuration and maintenance.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for this position:

• Minimum of five years of professional experience as a Senior System Engineer, with a strong focus on Linux systems, virtualization, and containerization.
• Preferred certifications in OpenShift Container Platform 4.x, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and VMware vSphere 8.x.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to research and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
