Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Consultant (Owner's Engineer / Resident SME) to join our team for a long-term engagement focused on a large-scale industrial energy efficiency improvement program. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert technical oversight and advisory services throughout the full lifecycle of energy efficiency initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass program design support, rigorous review of energy audit deliverables, validation of energy conservation measures (ECMs), oversight of retrofit implementations, verification of energy savings, and the development of client capabilities. As a trusted technical advisor, you will play a critical role in driving measurable energy performance improvements across multiple industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Advisory & Engineering Support

• Provide technical leadership for industrial energy efficiency and optimization initiatives, ensuring alignment with client objectives and industry best practices.
• Assess and optimize major utility systems, including steam, electrical power, compressed air, cooling, and process utilities, to identify and implement energy-saving opportunities.
• Develop comprehensive energy performance improvement strategies through benchmarking and performance assessments against recognized industry standards.
• Support program planning, implementation, and technical decision-making to ensure the successful execution of energy efficiency projects.

Audit Review, Validation & Technical Assurance

• Review and evaluate key deliverables such as Walkthrough Assessments, Investment Grade Energy Audits (IGA), Retrofit Designs, and Measurement & Verification (M&V) reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Validate energy baselines, Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs), projected savings, and implementation methodologies to confirm technical feasibility and operational viability.
• Assess the technical and economic feasibility of proposed energy efficiency initiatives, ensuring alignment with relevant international standards and protocols, including ISO 50001, ASHRAE Guidelines, and IPMVP.

Techno-Economic Evaluation

• Perform and review financial assessments, including Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), payback period, and lifecycle cost analyses, to support informed investment decisions.
• Validate Capital Expenditure (CAPEX), Operational Expenditure (OPEX), and energy-saving assumptions embedded in business cases to ensure robustness and reliability.
• Support investment prioritization and decision-making through rigorous economic evaluations and risk assessments.

Program Governance & Stakeholder Management

• Support project governance frameworks and key stage-gate approvals to maintain alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver independent technical recommendations and risk assessments to guide project execution and mitigate potential challenges.
• Liaise with clients, auditors, contractors, and project stakeholders to foster collaboration, resolve issues, and ensure seamless project delivery.
• Monitor project progress and provide timely interventions to address implementation challenges and optimize outcomes.

Knowledge Transfer & Capacity Building

• Develop technical guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), templates, and best-practice documentation to enhance operational consistency and efficiency.
• Deliver targeted technical training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing programs to build client capabilities and promote continuous improvement.
• Support the development of client energy management capabilities, fostering a culture of sustainability and operational excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Energy, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or a related discipline) from an accredited institution.
• A Master’s degree in Energy Management or a related field is considered advantageous and demonstrates a commitment to advanced technical expertise.

Professional Certifications

• Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP), Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent are highly desirable and reflect a high standard of professional competence.

Experience

• Proven experience in industrial energy efficiency, energy management, process optimization, or utility system performance improvement within a consulting or engineering environment.
• Demonstrated expertise in conducting or reviewing energy audits, retrofit projects, and Measurement & Verification (M&V) processes.
• Strong track record in developing and implementing energy performance improvement strategies for industrial facilities, with a focus on measurable outcomes and sustainability.
