Sr. Country Business Leader, Surgery - KSA

Position Overview

BD, a leading global medical technology company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Country Business Leader for Surgery in Saudi Arabia (KSA) to drive commercial excellence and strategic growth within the Kingdom. This pivotal role will be based in Riyadh and will report directly to the regional leadership team, overseeing all surgical business operations, including product portfolio management, market development, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the Saudi healthcare landscape, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a proven track record in driving business expansion in the surgical segment.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive country-specific business strategy aligned with BD’s global objectives, focusing on maximizing market share and revenue growth in the surgical domain.
• Portfolio Management: Lead the end-to-end management of BD’s surgical product portfolio in KSA, including product launches, portfolio optimization, and lifecycle management to meet evolving market demands.
• Market Development: Identify and capitalize on growth opportunities within the Saudi surgical market by analyzing market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer needs to drive innovation and adoption of advanced surgical solutions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key healthcare stakeholders, including government entities, hospital administrators, surgeons, and distributors, to foster collaboration and ensure seamless market penetration.
• Sales & Operations Oversight: Collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop targeted campaigns, training programs, and go-to-market strategies that enhance product visibility and adoption across healthcare facilities in KSA.
• Regulatory & Compliance: Ensure full adherence to local regulatory requirements, BD’s internal policies, and international standards to maintain compliance and uphold the company’s reputation for quality and safety.
• Financial Performance: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including revenue, market share, and profitability, while implementing corrective actions to address any gaps and drive continuous improvement.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and lead a high-performing cross-functional team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence to achieve business objectives and exceed customer expectations.

Qualifications & Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Medicine, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the medical device or healthcare industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the surgical segment, preferably in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia.
• Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the Saudi healthcare system, including regulatory frameworks, reimbursement policies, and key decision-makers in the surgical market.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, drive strategic initiatives, and deliver measurable results in a dynamic and competitive environment.
• Communication & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with C-level executives, government officials, and healthcare professionals.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Arabic is required; additional regional language skills are a plus.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools, with a strong aptitude for data analysis and business intelligence to inform strategic decision-making.
