In this dynamic role, you will work closely with a Project Management Office (PMO) to oversee and refine critical design elements, ensuring alignment with international and local standards while optimizing performance, cost, and constructability. Your contributions will directly influence the development of major highways, intersections, and interchanges, shaping the mobility landscape for generations to come.

Key Responsibilities

Your expertise will be instrumental in:

• Design Review and Technical Leadership: Critically evaluate road and highway design deliverables—including drawings, reports, and specifications—from third-party designers, with a focus on interfaces with structures, drainage, utilities, traffic systems, and other disciplines. Ensure adherence to geometric, safety, and regulatory standards at both conceptual and detailed design stages.
• Conceptual Innovation and Value Engineering: Develop and assess high-level design alternatives for road layouts, junctions, and interchanges, providing data-driven recommendations to support strategic decision-making. Identify opportunities to optimize geometric solutions, pavement designs, and safety features while maintaining project objectives and budget constraints.
• Technical Documentation and Collaboration: Prepare detailed engineering sketches, exhibits, and presentations to communicate design concepts, value engineering proposals, and technical clarifications to stakeholders. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams—including bridges, drainage, utilities, traffic, and architectural/landscape specialists—to resolve complex design challenges and ensure cohesive, integrated solutions.
• Risk Assessment and Constructability: Evaluate design risks, constructability factors, and phasing considerations for large-scale road and interchange projects, ensuring feasibility and alignment with project timelines.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Deliver compelling technical presentations to internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders, translating intricate design considerations into actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
• Process Optimization: Support PMO processes by providing structured, actionable feedback on third-party submissions, supplier drawings, and technical documents, facilitating smooth approval workflows.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

We are seeking a seasoned professional with:

• Advanced Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), complemented by a robust foundation in road and highway design principles.
• Proven Expertise: At least 10 years of hands-on experience in road and highway design, with a strong track record in major infrastructure projects—particularly highways and interchanges. Familiarity with Riyadh’s urban and regulatory landscape is a significant advantage.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of geometric road design, including horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, and junction layouts, in accordance with international (e.g., AASHTO, Eurocode) and local (Saudi standards) guidelines. Experience reviewing third-party designs and producing technically rigorous, structured feedback is essential.
• Pavement and Safety Acumen: A working understanding of pavement design principles and road safety engineering, with the ability to critically assess and refine third-party proposals to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Value Engineering Mindset: Demonstrated experience contributing to concept development and value engineering initiatives, driving efficiency and innovation in project delivery.
• Collaborative Leadership: A proven ability to thrive in multidisciplinary environments, coordinating with diverse teams to achieve cohesive, high-performance outcomes. Strong presentation and communication skills are critical for bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders.

While not mandatory, the following will further strengthen your candidacy:

• Experience in a design consultancy or Project Management Consultancy (PMC)/PMO environment, where you’ve navigated complex stakeholder dynamics and process optimization.
• Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) status with a recognized professional body, signifying your commitment to excellence and continuous professional development.
• Proficiency in industry-leading design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, InRoads, or similar software, enabling you to test concepts and create supporting visuals with precision.
• Participation in design review workshops, value engineering sessions, or similar forums where you’ve contributed to refining high-impact infrastructure solutions.
