We are seeking a visionary Technology Lead to spearhead our engineering function, blending hands-on development with strategic leadership. Your Impact

In this pivotal role, you will:

• Lead and Elevate: Mentor and develop a talented engineering team, establishing best practices in code quality, collaborative reviews, and agile delivery to ensure high-performance outcomes.
• Own the Technology Roadmap: Take full ownership of our e-commerce platform and ERP systems, including the design, development, and maintenance of custom modules to enhance functionality and scalability.
• Build Seamless Integrations: Architect and maintain critical integrations across our tech stack, including payment and buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) providers, logistics partners, SMS/notifications systems, and internal middleware services to create a cohesive and efficient operational ecosystem.
• Innovate with Internal Tools: Develop and deploy user-friendly web and mobile applications that streamline sales processes, operational workflows, and customer service, driving productivity and efficiency across the organization.
• Automate for Success: Identify and implement workflow automation solutions to reduce manual tasks, minimize errors, and accelerate cross-departmental collaboration.
• Harness AI for Growth: Evaluate and integrate AI-driven tools, including conversational commerce platforms, Arabic-language AI assistants, and internal productivity tools to enhance customer engagement and operational efficiency.
• Ensure Reliability and Security: Champion robust security practices, reliability protocols, and safe release strategies to safeguard our production systems and maintain seamless operations.
• Bridge Business and Technology: Translate complex business priorities into a clear, actionable technical roadmap, and communicate progress transparently to leadership to align technology with strategic goals.

Why You Belong Here

We are looking for a seasoned Technology Lead with a proven track record of leadership and technical excellence. Your ideal candidate will:

• Possess 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years of hands-on leadership or mentorship in a development team environment.
• Exhibit strong hands-on skills in a modern backend language (e.g., PHP, Python, Node.js) complemented by proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Bring real-world experience with e-commerce platforms and ERP systems, demonstrating the ability to customize, optimize, and scale these solutions.
• Showcase a proven track record of integrating third-party APIs, including payment gateways, BNPL systems, webhooks, and RPC/REST services, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability.
• Have a solid grasp of relational databases, background job processing, and production debugging, with a focus on maintaining system stability and performance.
• Demonstrate pragmatic engineering judgment, prioritizing idempotency, rollback safety, and careful data handling in live business systems to mitigate risks.
• Thrive in an independent yet collaborative environment, excelling at ruthless prioritization and delivering high-impact results in a fast-moving retail landscape.
• Be fluent in English with a strong preference for candidates who are also proficient in Arabic, given our customer base’s Arabic-first focus.

Nice to Have

• Experience in mobile development, whether through native or cross-platform frameworks, to extend our technological capabilities.
• Familiarity with RTL/Arabic localization in web and mobile products, ensuring our solutions are culturally and linguistically inclusive.
• Exposure to AI/LLM integrations, including conversational commerce platforms, WhatsApp commerce, and agent tooling, to leverage emerging technologies for business growth.
• Prior experience in retail, e-commerce, or logistics companies within the GCC, providing insights into industry-specific challenges and opportunities.
