With a vertically integrated approach, our global teams collaborate seamlessly across design, engineering, and manufacturing to deliver groundbreaking innovations that set new industry benchmarks. If you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where ambition meets integrity, we invite you to contribute to our mission of shaping the future of mobility.
We are seeking a **Senior Mechanical Engineer, Stator/Rotor** to join our resident product engineering team in the manufacturing plant. In this pivotal role, you will drive technical excellence, lead cross-functional problem-solving, and ensure seamless integration of stator and rotor sub-assemblies into high-volume production. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the next generation of electric vehicles while mentoring teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, your expertise will be instrumental in:
- **Solving Complex Technical Challenges:** Apply advanced problem-solving methodologies to address component and system-level issues, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of stator and rotor assemblies.
- **Data-Driven Decision Making:** Utilize statistical analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, Python, MATLAB, and control charts to conduct root cause analysis, identify process deviations, and implement proactive measures to prevent quality issues.
- **Technical Leadership in Manufacturing:** Establish and enforce design intent requirements for stator and rotor assemblies, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to align manufacturing processes with engineering specifications.
- **Process Optimization and Implementation:** Develop and refine assembly workflows, process flows, and manufacturing drawings to ensure adherence to product specifications and high-volume production standards.
- **Prototype and Production Support:** Lead prototype builds to validate product compatibility with manufacturing processes and equipment, while supporting new product launches and managing part concessions for e-motor assemblies.
- **High-Volume Production Ramp-Up:** Play a critical role in scaling production activities, advising on process improvements, and addressing technical challenges to achieve seamless ramp-up and sustained high-volume output.
- **Change Management and Continuous Improvement:** Lead product change initiatives to resolve compatibility and design issues in production, ensuring robust and manufacturable solutions while mentoring junior engineers and production teams.
- **Cross-Functional Collaboration:** Engage in technical discussions with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supplier Quality, Production, Maintenance, Controls, and Equipment Engineering teams to drive holistic solutions.
- **Knowledge Transfer and Mentorship:** Share technical expertise, mentor technicians and associates, and ensure lessons learned are integrated into future product designs, process standards, and equipment specifications.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you will bring:
- A **Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering** with **4+ years of automotive industry experience**, or a **Master’s degree in a related discipline** with **2+ years of experience** in the design and release of vehicle attributes.
- Proven expertise in **product problem-solving** using industry-standard techniques, with a strong foundation in **statistical analysis** and data-driven decision-making.
- Hands-on experience in **resident product engineering roles within manufacturing plants**, where you have successfully bridged the gap between engineering and production.
- A **technical mindset** with a passion for innovation, coupled with the ability to lead teams through ambiguous challenges while delivering measurable results.
- Familiarity with **electrical machine design principles**, manufacturing processes, and quality control methodologies specific to high-performance e-motor systems.
At Lucid, we empower engineers to push boundaries and redefine what’s possible. If you are ready to take on a leadership role in shaping the future of electric mobility, we encourage you to apply and join our team of visionaries.
