Collect, analyze, and maintain detailed records of nosocomial infections, ensuring timely reporting to senior leadership, including the Infection Control Supervisor and Chief of Medical Staff.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize surveillance data to detect infection sources, assess trends, and recommend evidence-based interventions. Assist in conducting environmental swabs of high-risk areas to mitigate contamination risks.
- Staff Education and Training: Design and deliver engaging educational programs to empower clinical and support staff with the knowledge and skills to uphold infection control standards. Facilitate training sessions on sterilization protocols, hand hygiene, and other critical practices to ensure compliance across all departments.
- Policy Development and Compliance: Collaborate with CSSD teams to refine sterilization and infection control protocols. Develop, evaluate, and recommend policies that align with national (Saudi Arabian) and international standards, including JCI and CBAHI accreditation requirements. Assist in preparing for licensing and accreditation surveys to maintain operational excellence.
- Patient and Family Engagement: Educate patients and their families on infection prevention measures, tailoring communication to their developmental level, cultural background, and learning needs. Document patient education interactions in medical records and integrate their preferences into care plans, fostering shared decision-making.
- Emergency Response and Continuous Improvement: Implement emergency safety protocols, including fire safety measures, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Stay updated on evolving regulations and best practices to ensure the hospital remains at the forefront of infection control innovation.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with infection control committees, department heads, and regulatory bodies to address challenges, share insights, and drive systemic improvements. Act as a trusted advisor to hospital leadership on infection control strategies and compliance matters.
