As a Senior Oracle Exadata Administrator, you will be the technical authority responsible for the entire lifecycle of Exadata environments, from deployment and patching to advanced performance tuning and high-availability strategies. Your work will directly impact the reliability, security, and efficiency of Oracle Database workloads across hybrid and cloud-native architectures. This role demands a blend of hands-on technical mastery and strategic leadership to drive operational excellence in a fast-evolving IT landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Your expertise will be pivotal in the following critical areas:

• Exadata On-Premises Administration
  Design, deploy, and manage Oracle Exadata Database Machines (X8M, X9M, and X10M), including compute nodes, storage servers, and high-performance networking (InfiniBand/RoCE). Configure and optimize ILOM, firmware, and hardware components to ensure peak operational efficiency.
• Advanced Patching and Firmware Management
  Lead quarterly and ad-hoc patching initiatives using industry-leading tools such as dbaascli, exadcli, PatchMgr, and opatchauto to maintain Grid Infrastructure, database homes, and storage cells. Execute firmware upgrades for ILOM, switches, PDUs, and networking hardware to future-proof the infrastructure.
• Storage and Performance Optimization
  Leverage Exadata’s advanced storage features—including Smart Scan, Storage Indexes, Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC), and Smart Flash Cache—to accelerate query performance. Monitor and tune ASM disk groups, rebalancing strategies, and storage allocation to align with evolving database workload demands.
• Exadata Cloud Service and Exadata Cloud@Customer
  Provision and administer Exadata Cloud Infrastructure (ExaCS/ExaCC) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), utilizing the OCI Console, CLI, Terraform, and REST APIs. Manage VM clusters, database homes, and elastic configurations while ensuring seamless integration with OCI’s IAM policies, VCNs, and network security groups. Automate provisioning and lifecycle operations to enhance agility and reduce operational overhead.
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery
  Design and implement Oracle RAC and RAC One Node configurations to ensure fault tolerance across on-premises and cloud environments. Lead Oracle Data Guard and Active Data Guard deployments to enable real-time data synchronization and minimal downtime during failovers. Develop and test disaster recovery procedures, including cross-environment failovers between on-premises Exadata and ExaCS, while managing RMAN backups to OCI Object Storage and ZDLRA for zero-data-loss protection.
• Performance Engineering and Capacity Planning
  Drive data-driven performance improvements using AWR, ASH, ADDM, and Exadata-specific tools like ExaWatcher and OSWatcher. Analyze cell server metrics, flash cache efficiency, and Storage Index performance to optimize I/O Resource Management (IORM) and database resource plans. Conduct capacity assessments to support scaling decisions and workload consolidation, ensuring cost-efficient resource utilization.
• Security and Compliance
  Enforce Oracle’s Maximum Security Architecture guidelines to harden Exadata environments, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Oracle Key Vault integration, and network encryption. Align security configurations with Oracle Database Vault, Audit Vault, and data masking requirements while applying security patches through structured change management processes.
• Operational Leadership and Mentorship
  Develop and maintain comprehensive runbooks, architectural documentation, and disaster recovery test plans to ensure operational resilience. Collaborate with solution architects, DBA teams, and stakeholders to align capacity planning and platform roadmaps with business objectives. Mentor junior administrators and provide technical guidance to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Participate in on-call support, incident management, and root cause analysis to resolve critical issues with urgency and precision.
