Network Operations Center Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer specializing in Service Assurance to oversee the stability and performance of our satellite connectivity infrastructure. This critical role involves monitoring, triaging, and resolving issues across signaling pathways, routing behavior, SIM provisioning, OSS integrations, and core network interactions. The NOC Engineer will be responsible for managing alarms, validating routing configurations, diagnosing faults in signaling and gateway/core systems, and collaborating with partner NOCs to ensure uninterrupted service availability for both commercial and beta-grade connectivity flows. Reporting directly to the Service Assurance Manager, this position is essential for maintaining 24/7 operational excellence and rapid incident response.

Key Responsibilities

Network Monitoring & Event Handling

• Continuously monitor signaling pathways, routing behavior, SIM flows, OSS integrations, and core network interactions to identify potential disruptions in satellite service.
• Detect, acknowledge, and triage alarms from monitoring platforms, ensuring immediate response and meticulous logging of all events.
• Escalate anomalies based on predefined severity levels, operational thresholds, and potential impact on service quality.

Incident Diagnosis & Troubleshooting

• Validate routing tables, signaling transactions, and core network behavior during fault conditions or service degradation events.
• Diagnose complex issues across gateway systems, core networks, OSS platforms, and cross-domain integrations that affect service connectivity.
• Conduct detailed event analysis, correlate logs from multiple sources, and support engineering teams in performing root cause investigations.

Partner NOC Coordination

• Act as the primary operational liaison with partner NOCs, facilitating seamless incident handling, alarm correlation, and workflow alignment.
• Coordinate multi-party triage calls, share diagnostic logs and findings, and ensure timely resolution and closure of issues linked to partner networks.
• Maintain consistent communication loops and adhere to established escalation protocols to resolve cross-domain incidents efficiently.

Service Flow Validation & Operational Compliance

• Ensure that signaling and routing flows remain compliant across both commercial and beta-grade service classes, adhering to industry standards and internal policies.
• Perform periodic validation of SIM provisioning paths, authentication flows, and connectivity stability to prevent service disruptions.
• Verify OSS integration points, alarms, key performance indicators (KPIs), and data hooks to maintain comprehensive service assurance visibility.

Operational Readiness & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to the development and refinement of playbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and troubleshooting guides for core, gateway, and OSS interactions.
• Support the readiness of new services, partner integrations, and routing changes by conducting pre-launch validation tests and readiness assessments.
• Provide actionable feedback on monitoring thresholds, dashboards, and workflow improvements to enhance detection accuracy and response times.

Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain precise logs, incident records, and ticket updates for seamless collaboration with internal and external teams.
• Prepare shift handover summaries, detailed incident reports, and root cause analysis (RCA) inputs as required by leadership.
• Track recurring issues and propose remediation actions to the Service Assurance leadership to drive continuous service improvement.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electronics, or a closely related technical field.
• Professional certifications in networking (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS) or telecom operations are highly desirable and will be considered an asset.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in NOC operations, telecom monitoring, satellite operations, or core network support.
• Proven experience working with signaling flows, routing tables, authentication pathways, or mobile core network elements.
• Exposure to multi-vendor NOC environments, incident workflows, and partner escalation processes.

Required Technical Expertise

• Strong understanding of signaling protocols (e.g., Diameter, SIP, NAS), routing fundamentals, and core network behavior.
• In-depth knowledge of telecom connectivity flows, including SIM activation, attach procedures, mobility management, and authentication mechanisms.
• Experience in analyzing logs, traces, routing tables, and performing event correlations across diverse network elements.
• Proficiency with OSS/NMS tools, alarm management systems, KPI dashboards, and monitoring platforms.
• Basic familiarity with satellite network components, gateways, or hybrid RAN core flows is considered a plus.
• Hands-on experience with Linux environments, basic scripting (Python, Bash), and troubleshooting utilities.
