About the Role
Wood is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join our dynamic Projects team in Al Khobar. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing project schedules to ensure timely and efficient delivery of projects while adhering to contractual milestones, company standards, and client requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project controls, with expertise in schedule development, progress analysis, and resource management to drive project success.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Planning Engineer will play a critical role in the following areas:
- Schedule Development and Management: Lead the creation and maintenance of detailed, resource-loaded, and robust baseline project schedules that align with contractual obligations and project objectives.
- Progress Reporting and Analysis: Generate accurate weekly and monthly progress reports, including "S" curves, histograms, and tabulated man-hour/progress data, to provide stakeholders with clear insights into project performance.
- Critical Path and Productivity Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of schedule performance, productivity metrics, and critical path activities to identify potential risks, delays, or opportunities for optimization.
- Documentation and Compliance: Ensure all project plans and deliverables comply with Wood’s, client’s, and project-specific QA/QC plans, policies, and standards. Maintain up-to-date schedules that reflect scope changes, progress updates, and delivery timelines.
- Change Management Support: Assist in the development of change notifications by assessing their impact on project schedules and coordinating re-baselining efforts as required.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide the project team with relevant planning and reporting information to ensure alignment with project targets. Foster strong working relationships within the Project Controls team and across disciplines to promote collaboration and efficiency.
- Forecasting and Recovery Planning: Develop and implement recovery strategies to address deviations from the baseline schedule, ensuring project objectives are met.

Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably within the oil & gas, energy, or industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in project planning software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Certifications such as PMP, PMI-SP, or equivalent are advantageous.
