Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading and executing process safety engineering activities across a diverse portfolio of projects, from conceptual studies to detailed design and execution. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in process safety and loss prevention. Core responsibilities include:

• Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance in process safety engineering, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies for complex projects in the oil, gas, and chemical sectors.
• Project Execution: Develop and implement process safety deliverables in alignment with project schedules, engineering design criteria, and approved procedures. Ensure that safety considerations are integrated into all phases of project development, from front-end engineering design (FEED) to construction and commissioning.
• Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and client stakeholders, to foster a culture of safety excellence. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the professional growth of the team.
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving industry regulations, standards, and best practices in process safety. Ensure that projects adhere to local and international safety guidelines, including OSHA, API, and ISO standards.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation in process safety methodologies and tools to enhance project outcomes. Identify opportunities for process optimization and risk reduction, contributing to the overall success and sustainability of Bechtel’s projects.
• Client Engagement: Support client objectives by providing expert process safety advice, conducting safety audits, and delivering training programs to enhance operational safety awareness.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess a strong technical background in process safety engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the oil, gas, or chemical industries. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in process safety design, risk assessment, and loss prevention, with experience in both FEED and EPC project environments. Key qualifications include:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Functional Safety Professional, TÜV Functional Safety Engineer) are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated expertise in process hazard analysis (PHA), layer of protection analysis (LOPA), and safety instrumented systems (SIS) design.
• Experience with industry-standard software tools for process safety analysis, such as PHAST, DNV GL, or similar platforms.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.
