Job Purpose

The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations, including the preparation of financial statements, account reconciliations, and budgetary analyses. This role is critical in safeguarding the organization’s financial health by ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting principles and regulations. The Accountant will also support forecasting efforts, cash flow management, and inventory valuation, providing insights that drive informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the general ledger: Ensure all financial transactions, including receipts, payments, journals, and adjustments, are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
• Prepare financial statements: Compile month-end and year-end closing entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, amortization, and provisions, to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Manage fixed assets and depreciation: Maintain fixed asset registers, calculate depreciation, and ensure accurate recording of asset-related transactions.
• Handle intercompany transactions: Record and reconcile intercompany transactions to maintain transparency and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Ensure proper chart of accounts: Maintain an organized and up-to-date chart of accounts to facilitate efficient financial tracking and reporting.
• Process bank and petty cash transactions: Record bank transactions, manage petty cash, and process employee reimbursements to ensure smooth financial operations.
• Monitor cash flow and liquidity: Prepare cash flow forecasts and track daily cash balances to support the organization’s liquidity requirements.
• Manage inventory accounting: Record inventory purchases, adjustments, transfers, and write-offs, including wastage and expiry, to maintain accurate inventory valuation.
• Support cost accounting: Assist in recipe costing, standard cost updates, and food cost calculations to optimize production efficiency and profitability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with procurement, production, and finance teams to ensure alignment and accuracy in financial reporting.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as CMA, ACCA, or CPA are highly desirable.
• A minimum of 1 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience, with a proven track record in financial record-keeping and reporting.
• Strong proficiency in industry-standard accounting software and ERP systems, along with advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic corporate setting.
