Your Role as a Robotics Engineer

As a Robotics Engineer at Yokogawa, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing cutting-edge robotic solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability across diverse industries. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate and optimize robotic platforms, ensuring seamless operation within Yokogawa’s systems. Your expertise will drive innovation, from pilot trials to full-scale deployment, while addressing complex challenges in robotics integration, automation, and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities

• System Integration & Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement robotic solutions, leveraging OEM platforms and Yokogawa’s proprietary systems. Utilize SDKs to integrate robotic hardware and software, ensuring compatibility and performance.
• Third-Party Integration: Evaluate, integrate, and optimize third-party hardware and software solutions to enhance Yokogawa’s robotic systems, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and industry standards.
• Technology Exploration & Pilot Trials: Research emerging technologies in robotics and autonomous systems to identify new opportunities. Develop and execute pilot trials, including feasibility studies and value assessments, to demonstrate the benefits of robotic solutions for customers.
• Collaboration with OEMs: Partner with leading robotics Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to scope data integration, conduct site trials, and troubleshoot autonomous robotic platforms. Contribute to continuous improvement through feedback and iterative development.
• Technical Support & Training: Provide expert technical support to field operators, stakeholders, and internal teams. Develop implementation plans, conduct site surveys, and perform risk assessments to ensure safe and effective deployment of robotic solutions.
• Industry Expertise: Stay abreast of advancements in robotics, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and field inspection technologies. Apply this knowledge to enhance Yokogawa’s offerings and deliver innovative solutions tailored to industry-specific needs, particularly in Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years in robotics implementation, including autonomous inspection platforms, integration using OEM SDKs, and pilot trials. Experience in project management and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is essential.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Oil & Gas and/or Utilities sectors, including regulatory standards and operational challenges.

Key Competencies & Skills

• Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in Python, C++, MATLAB, and familiarity with robotics simulation tools such as ROS/ROS 2, SLAM algorithms, and Git-based workflows.
• AI & Data Integration: Knowledge of AI developments, including training, data selection, and Python-based AI integration for robotic systems.
• Robotic Systems Expertise: In-depth understanding of robotic hardware (e.g., ExRobotics, Boston Dynamics, ANYBotics, MHI, Taurob, Deep Robotics) and sensor payloads. Familiarity with safety standards, including hazardous area classifications.
• Networking & Infrastructure: Experience with robot communication networks, including 4G, 5G, and cloud/on-premises infrastructure. Knowledge of Linux systems is advantageous.
• Problem-Solving & Communication: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
• Design & Industry 4.0: Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and an understanding of Industry 4.0 and IoT principles.
